I'm on your side on stealing stuff back from the rainbow crowd part, but in my opinion these games shouldn't be given extended life through future titles that may credit them as an inspiration. The developers actively enable and encourage this attitude, they force discord "humor" at every opportunity, within the community, marketing and even the game itself. Almost every single easter egg and secret in the game is a one-off joke that contributes nothing to the game itself while ruining the atmosphere and tone.
