It's been confirmed that he's had his fans gather info for him about previous events he's claimed to refrain from covering. As for the Switch 2, despite him attempting to claim that it's identical to the Switch 1, he's still bothered by the fact that Nintendo decided to technically continue with a new generation of console harware, invalidating all his arguments about the Switch 1 being "powerful enough" and so on. While he's able to defend Nintendo and praise them for making the decision NOT to release a new Donkey Kong game or whatever, the Switch 2 is a bridge too far for him, at least because it affects him while the lack of any new DK content doesn't, Cody being more invested in Fire Emblem or Zelda instead.
Speaking of events, Cody makes a lot of noise about some supposed Geoff Keighley/TGAs stuff on Twitter, reminding us that Cody "Harman Smith" Lee Inman doesn't care about such things. You'd think someone smart and interested in wanting to get a gotcha over someone on Twitter would provide screencaps, but not even Cody nor anyone aligned with him has even bothered to. Besides, Cody's idea of "downplaying" is...Keighly not mentioning Xenoblade enough?
Because Harman won't bother showing his work, allow me to fill in what he is bitching about. On March 2nd The Game Awards Twitter or X page posted the screenshot below. And yes it doesn't mention Xenoblade Chronicles X. So naturally Harman is upset because they didn't mention a remaster of an old game, over any of these newer ones. In the end they will naturally prioritize the newer stuff over the older stuff. You know just like our little drone here does, after all new games = better. Well unless you don't like the fact Nintendo is rereleasing old decades old games with no real changes at full price. Then you are an Nintendo boomer or pretendo that just hates old games, but he is perfectly fine with bitching at older games if it fits, his narrative. Paper Mario TTYD anyone? Super Mario Bros 3 anyone?
However, something very amusing happened this video was posted on March 3rd and Harman clearly didn't look much further into the twitter or stay on it on the 3rd as I found several more tweets from TGA. There were 4 more which I will post. All four are talking about that company that apprantly they hate, called Nintendo and funnily enough nothing negative. One is about the upcoming Switch 2 direct in April, another is talking about the switch having released on the 3rd and how it has sold 150 mil. The third is about BOTW, how it is 8 years old and *Gasp* it won GOTY! But I thought TGA awards hated Nintendo when did this happen? It isn't like when it did it's first show in 2014 it gave developer of the year to Nintendo, during the time the Wii U was flopping all over, and it won GOTY in 2016, or it has won multiple awards over the years, with only 2 years it didn't win anything. But you know Geoff and all those evil TGA people hate Nintendo.
But the 4th one is the most interesting one, because low and behold it mentions that on March 20th Xenoblade Chronicles X DE is being released and asks "Are you excited for it's release?" Now it appears it is because Xenoblade fans got pissy that it wasn't announced in the first post, and basicly hounded Geoff or whoever runs that twitter page to post it up. But hey he did it, and he still gets bitched at. What lovely people the Xenoblade fandom are, just makes me glad I didn't get into it.
Whilst I see it being a tiny bit to leave out XBX, it isn't the end of the world. It only appeals to a niche group, most Xenoblade games only squeak around 1 to 2 mil copies. I feel that more people are focusing on the other systems, and or the multiplat new games, as opposed to an older game on a system that is on the way out. Hell I forgot XBX was even coming out this month, sure you can say they made an oppsie by not originally putting it up there, but the announcement of the game was nearly half a year ago now, and most people probably forgot. Not only that but Nintendo has done very little thus far this year. DKCR was a port, the pokemon presents mostly focused on the mobile games, with the first look at ZA but it looks mid at best. And they went "look a switch 2 we have a direct in April til then bye". So yeah what TGA does over the year is advertise games, and promote new gaming news. Nintendo has very little to give that we didn't already know about. But of course Nintendo isn't the centre of attention, in the gaming universe for even a split second. Harman soils his diaper and throws his binky out his mouth, cry like a toddler because Nintendo isn't getting attention.
