Yeah and who's going to build them? The US literally cannot even make enough ships to keep up with the current number of Navy vessels. Not to mention the US no longer has the skilled laborers needed to build icebreakers. This is a plan that is literally decades away from completion if we start today, and we have not started at all.
Guess we should just give up and die then. No point in even trying to train new workers or build the ships at a slower pace.

Who says they have to be Jones-Act compliant? There's like 50 ships of significant size globally that follow that.

Dems stole the election which allowed them to do that. But early on in his first term Trump was facing obstruction from the Republicans as well. When he tried to do anything regarding trade it was the republicans blocking him. People like Paul Ryan and other never Trump people. They were back Desantis.
Never forget that Mueller was backed by a Republican Congress.

But the taxpayer may save it rather than spend it, which does reduce GDP. I think you're arguing more about the shittiness of GDP as a singular metric for economic health, which I totally agree with.

Unless they're putting that money into a mattress it's either being put into a bank account whereupon it will be used to extend loans to someone else or more likely invested, which gives some business the ability to spend it in exchange for an ownership stake in the business and sometimes a return of any future profits. Some of this spending may result in the money moving around more or less, but is not going to have a major effect.

The government wasting money on things that only exist because the government wastes money on them is not healthy for the economy even if it does make the GDP go up. If it were, you'd have to agree that the government spending $1 trillion to manufacture Sonichu medallions is good because GDP is going up. But this ignores that the money would have been spend on something else had the government not used it for their own purposes. GDP is generally fine to the extent that what's being produced reflects what people actually want, but it's far from capable of telling you everything about an economy or country.

Okay retard, how about this instead: we unfuck our shipbuilding while simultaneously not telling our allies responsible for supplementing our Arctic patrols to fuck off.

Okay who's going to build them? The biggest dog in icebreaker building is Finland, and their yards are booked out for decades.

Maybe it's really time to make good with Russia since they're rapidly expanding their icebreaker fleet. Like they finally finished the long-delayed USSR-era icebreakers and are working on new ones.

Also reminder that China has an order of magnitude more shipbuilding capacity than the United States does since we shut down all our shipyards decades ago.

You didn't answer my question. I didn't ask about how much fentanyl has been found in Canada, I asked how much is flowing into the US from Canada. I also asked what Trump wants Canada to do specifically, and what Canada has refused to do. Just a couple weeks ago Trump was declaring victory because Canada agreed to deploy new technologies to track cross border movements and to spend an additional couple billion on the border. What changed?
Canada is hobosexually impoverished and has a population equivalent to California. If you think some jeets stockpiled 54 kilos of fentanyl and 390 kilos of meth, and a shit ton of Chinese precursor chemicals for domestic Canadian consumption, there’s no helping you.

The fact that our border with Canada is almost entirely unmanned speaks to the problem that nobody can SAY how much fentanyl is coming in from the north, because you can just go the fuck around checkpoints. Also we’ve started noticing extra brown people here in northern New England

Oh, a sharp rise, you say?

As far as what Trump wants, let’s take it from a Canadian defense minister

>but you're destroying our chances at a Conservative government! We were polling high until you tarrifed us, Drumpf!
I don't give a flying fuck, leaf. You and your entire country can go full commie for all I care. Just stop stealing our shit and poisoning our citizens.

Trump dealt with Canda's stupid commie fuck government by choking its trade, and Canadians react by...electing a government that will double down on the stupidity and make everything worse, rather than a government that will deal fairly with America and normalize things. You can't tell me Canadians don't deserve this.

I can't believe I really lived to see Canada fall under the US flag. Predictably, we wouldn't have to fire a single shot.

What friends and allies. All we had to do was say “I don’t want to give you extra money because you’re sitting around letting crime into our country” and whoosh, there go the toys flying out the pram

I tried to say that last part in monarchist so the faggots would understand

I don't really keep up with how he's doing, but supposedly is a non-retards libertarian. So kudos to him.
yeah he was WAY serious economic nerd libertarian for years
he had a blog "The Adventures Of Citizen X around the time he first unmasked as Kane, it was a lot of deep cut theoretical stuff, easily one of my biggest regrets of not archiving fucking everything
not really _interesting_ because it was a shitload of deep economy ramblings, but def a contrast to other libertarian wrasslers like say, Val Venus's libertarianing in the usual "pot smoking independent contractor" orbit,
iirc Kane dropped libertarian to be a registered republican a bit before the Trump Train got rolling?
I don't keep an ear to the ground in Knox County much, I recall chatter that he's been a cromulent public official, he got a bit of static working the Saudi shows for WWE, but used his paycheck to buy Knox County some new fire trucks so they were cool with it after that, otherwise he got an invite to talk at CPAC so he seems to be doing okay for an eye towards a national level position
