So, you think tarrifs are impossible to enforce?
They create a system which seeks to circumvent them
You do know you can create different tarrifs for finished and unfished goods.
I believe we should operate international trade with a scalpel not with a sledgehammer. tariffs are a sledgehammer. they're good for some things but not for everything.
I think that Trump is pulling out the big guns too early and if he fucks this up he can't use them again.
Block all foreigners from owning US land... that sounds great!
not sure if you are disagreeing here. many nations have similar laws. a lot of them in Europe have the same thing.
Google, Apple, and Microsoft exist because of the artificial monopoly of copyright and patents. You don't need the federal government to make decisions on who is "too big" if you modify what is causing the concentration of power.
It used to be that we would use a the Sherman antitrust act to break up monopolies whenever they got too big and prevented innovation. we did this to standard oil. we did this to Bell telephone. we tried to do this to Microsoft and failed. right now you have four companies essentially that control the entire internet that should not exist. don't get me started on patents because I believe that Congress needs to pass a law to stop and reverse the damage that Disney has done. however, I don't see the Democrats talking about this and I don't see Trump talking about this.
That topic is a whole other ball of yarn (a mess). My point is that the government creates an environment where monopolistic corporations are the inevitability.
well that's just capitalism. but I believe in kanisan economics. under a capitalistic system, the government should ensure free trade exists. however, every time we have these regulatory barriers in place, the Republican party keeps removing them because they keep siding with business. remember our media was prevented by regulation to be consolidated. Reagan removed that, and now all our media is owned by three companies.
Banks are granted an artificial monopoly on money creation. I would end all fractional banking, including the Federal Reserve. I don't fully know what Trump's plans are yet.
I'm more concerned about large Banks doing many different things. this is what led to 2008. I think you should have a bank that does one particular aspect of banking. another bank that does another particular aspect and them all being separately, run and not owned by a mega corporation like Bank of America for example.
if we allow the creation of smaller regional Banks to exist, we can allow more competition, but I will be very forward and say banking is not something I know much about.
Domestic factories for domestic demand. If you want, you could prevent a domestic company from moving a factory to a foreign demand nation by penalties, taxes, etc.
but that would require Congress to do its job. I don't like executive orders because they can easily be overturned by any administration and the political feelings of the day. when you have legislation passed, especially with the US 's Congressional system, a consensus is forced.
it's hard to establish a business when you don't know within 4 years if some regulatory reaction will exist or won't, especially when it comes to Major regulations.
It is a crime. They should enforce it.
The entire US immigration system needs to be burned down and rebuilt. we have two few judges too for you enforcers the laws are just taped together and they don't make any sense in the modern day. I'm not against deporting illegals I'm not against having immigration laws. I actually support them. I just think we need to completely change everything.
