Cartoon Industry thread - Showcasing the Spergery of the Animation Industry

Okay, so here's my question: Is the Powerpuff Girls a magical girl cartoon? And I'm not talking about PPGZ. If a magical girl show is just a little girl with powers defeating bad guys and also having normal life things happen, that describes the Powerpuff Girls too. It's styled more like a superhero show than a Sailor Moon ripoff, but it's Western and doesn't draw from the same genre expectations as things made in Japan do.
I don't think it'd count as one, but I couldn't actually explain to you why. The writing and stuff kinda reminds me more of a tongue-in-cheek kinda superhero show like Underdog, though. Craig McCracken is around the age he probably would've seen that as a kid, too.

Tumblr's PreCure base is majority women, that was who I was thinking of. Yurifags are just bad in general.
I've definitely heard of the "big friends" thing, but I think as more people that watched PreCure as kids grow up into adults, there will be more of a nostalgic fanbase of adult women. First series was 2004, I believe?

I know for a fact that Ojamajo Doremi is still popular with the younger-millennial women that grew up watching it as kids. There was even some animated film a few years ago about that.

PPG was originally conceived as The Whoop-Ass Girls. They're a tongue-in-cheek take on the superhero genre, though when the show got picked up, they definitely did homages to anime of old they would've seen, and this might've been mostly Genndy Tartovsky who did. I think there's a list out there showcasing some homages throughout the series, which is an artform that modern animators can't do, they literally have to rip off/copy everything.

To continue off what I said earlier, how many people in this picture do you recognize?

I recognize all of them except the characters that I assume are from porn.
Question. Why SFW characters are hanging out with porn characters in this picture? Am I missing something?
AHA. I was right.

Imo, in Internet communities focused on animation, there is, like, an unspoken expectation that you must support pornographic creators. If you're an indie artist, you're often grouped with those who get off on pushing boundaries (e.g - artists who see shocking the public/peers with explicit content as an act of rebellion). Somehow, being an independent creator has been conflated with being countercultural, as if making art outside of the mainstream is inherently a political stance. And with that comes an insistence that you at least tolerate, if not embrace, NSFW content, no matter your personal stance. It’s not just present, it’s forced down your throat. It's annoying and a lot of the reason why I avoid most "communities."

Though, this is just the feeling I get from personal experience. Porn makes me uncomfortable and I will say so, and that has put me on people's personal shit lists in the past. Being a totally SFW artist is increasingly rare.

I hate porn artists and I hate faggot creators who enable porn art of the shit they make so much, it's unreal.

I mean, porn exists but the modern "pop culture community" seams to believe that it's a core part of modern animation.

There are people like Zone whose mane claim to fame was making porn of Teen Titans characters and yet people talk about him like he's just a wholesome internet cartoonist.
Heck, he even worked on Skullgirls and his OC Zone-tan had a cameo as a audience member.

It's like these people are so coom brained that they can't imagine drawing something without potentially making porn of it. Like, the border between mainstream animation and porn has been completely erased.

It's almost like they see it as a rule of the Internet.

Only if a hot dog is a sandwich.

People who think that past the age of 19 are mentally incompetent.

Zone still draws porn, doesn't he? I don't get why they treat him as anything other than a smut-peddler.

Actually, I've always been curious about what would be needed for an artist to clear out the stain of having made a name drawing porn. Is it just going without drawing it long enough? Changing names/identities online? Splitting the porn off into separate accounts? Or is it just a matter of once a pornographer, always a pornographer?

This is probably an off-topic tangent. My bad.

Inventing Superman, usually. But nowadays you don't need to clear your name of drawing porn. Everyone's obsessed with it and introducing porn to children is a normal habit.

Can a murderer be absolved of his sins? Can a robber repent by doing charity work and helping his community?
Point is, actions is always the determining factor of an individual's character, and if you're someone like Dragonsnow or Zone that ruined a generation of kids with their artwork (and still doing so), I'd say that puts you on the same level as pedophiles and you should atone your sins like them by eating a bullet.

Clout. He's got seniority and people idolize him and want a piece of the Internet Famous (tm) pie. He could get away with anything and clout chasers would be willfully blind to it.

Imo you would have to denounce it, delete it from all your accounts, say you did it when you needed money, never make it again, and pray to God some gooner didn't collect your work on their hard drive to shove down people's throats the moment your name is mentioned or your style is recognized. If you made hardcore stuff, you're fucked.

You're posting immediately after a whole conversation about how drawing porn is normalized and accepted across the art community. No one has to do shit about their fucked up A03 cartoons, and that's the actual problem.

Same reason Shadman's managed to avoid any consequence for this long.
