The Chinese claim to have six gorillion years of history when in reality they as a people have existed only for sixty years. The Cultural Revolution shattered that proverbial Ship of Theseus that is a culture, broke the continuity between past and present, eradicated all the historical sites and written texts and cultural shaping,
as was its stated goal and actions. The country they
live in has however many thousand years, but if we're going by that standard Turkey with Göbekli Tepe or the Fertile Crescent or Egypt have them beat by millennia and even the Australian Aborigine has eerily accurate oral traditions of megafauna they hunted to extinction
fifty thousand years before. They consistently cope and sneed about what the cultures that came before them did and achieved, yet their Honored Ancestors never actually did anything of note with what they discovered; instead too busy killing another ten million peasants for some reason or another, a historical pastime of theirs. They lacked drive, entrepreneurial spirit, a desire to do things for the good of others out of nothing but a sense of moral duty, and the Human call to see what lies beyond the horizon, both metaphorical and physical.
Even before all that, the x number historical legacy is cope and sneed as well as there were several completely distinct subsequent civilisations within that landmass. The Chinaman would have you believe they are a great people, but they ape that which came before to which they have no connection, and have never truly achieved a historical great work beyond the most expansive age of human suffering the world had ever seen since perhaps the mongols.
Not much to be proud of.
