She's a POC? I only played her old games on our school's shitty old Apple IIe and she looked white to me.
With a last name like "Sandiego," (And come to think of it, also first name like "Carmen") she's probably meant to be a fiery latinx. No idea why she's suddenly a good guy though, my boner dried up the second she started working for the feds.

The New AVGN was dull, I have a feeling he is going to pump out a bunch of filler episodes so he can have the 20th anniversary of his YouTube channel be the 250th video. His channel is 20 years old next year
Where have you been? The channel has been making filler episodes for years now. I think the last video James put some honest-to-god effort into was The Last Ninja review and that was simply "Okay."

carmen sandiego is a good guy now?
Yeah that was somethin that surprised me. I know that was the canon of the Netflix cartoon but I didn't think it would be franchise wide. She's basically just America's take on Kaitou Kid now.

Which I'm... mixed on. The Netflix show was decent (I only saw season one) but I liked Carmen better as some morally-ambiguous villain like in the 1990s cartoon, not as a de-facto misunderstood hero.

..... I rather liked this AVGN video just for the nostalgic aspect. Nowadays I watch AVGn as comfort food more than anything. It got me and friends talking about old commercials.

One thing we all said though: This video feels like it just abruptly stops. I would like to see a part 2 where he covers more commercials from the 90s and 2000s.

I liked the commercial video just because James has an actual emotional connection to the stuff he's talking about, instead of just another case of "playing it for content." The difference when he's talking about something from his childhood is night and day compared to whenever he's playing 3D era stuff he has no nostalgia for. It's like Castlevania IV vs. Symphony of the Night, he knows he's obligated to pay homage to the latter if he doesn't want fanboys riding his ass, but he's only really passionate about the former.

AVGN should have been retired years ago. Rolfe could have turned into a series where he talks about the rare stuff he’s come across / has in his collection. His best episodes IMO are stuff like the PONG clones and the weird shit developers did to get around Nintendo’s lock-out chip.

The Gex episode is depressing. He barely even gets mad about the camera thing which should be a classic AVGN rage moment.

I think cinemassacre is forcing him to make them, I hope he eventually retires to spend more time with his family :(

He really does seem like that buddy everyone has who is super excited about this new music he found but when he reveals it to everyone and is hoping everyone will like it it's just... not that great. He likes it, though, and he's super enthusiastic about it but now he knows that maybe he's the only one. That friend now just kind of talks about the bands everyone else is into that he sort of likes. Always just sounds tired. Maybe defeated.

And this is where I remember that he was actually in a terrible band.
