An adult woman forced to live with her sister after coming out of an abusive relationship, with no steady work and no prospects for her own flat/living space any time soon, would be considered homeless by most people. Just because you're not begging in the street doesn't mean you're not in pretty dire circumstances. Anyone who has been through something similar knows it is incredibly stressful and scary, especially if you're dependent on the kindness of family/friends, and benefits that might change at any moment because of government fuckery.

The funniest thing about this sort is how they make up half the shit they're mad about. It's a fanfiction within a fanfiction about Snape (he didn't become a Death Eater because he was bullied or because of his crush on Lily), Rowling (she's so racist, she'd never let a main character be black) and, somehow, future casting choices (where has anyone said anything about Lily being asian? Why didn't they include a black Lily in their fanfiction?).

A couple of weeks ago whilst working freelance, there was a conversation about how JK Rowling was a terrible person because of her stances on trans issues in the crew I was a part of. One of the participants claimed that JK Rowling "hated" trans people becuase she was sexually assaulted by a pooner in a toilet stall. I didn't comment about my own honest thoughts about the subject but I said something along the lines of "She doesn't deserve death and rape threats for disagreeing though" and I couldn't help but refute the claim. I explained that JKR was concerned because she was once a victim of DV and SA from her first ex-husband and vulnerable single mother living on benefits when she wrote Harry Potter. Slowly the common sense started to kick in and the crowd became very sympathetic towards Rowling. Although I never attempt to "peak trans" other people in real life, I think I got pretty close to peak transing the entire conversation. It's amazing to see people realise how undeserving JK Rowling is of all the hate and abuse she receives online daily.
