Watching it, I’m of the thinking that yep, a mix of To Blodly Flee and AT4W movie (with an AVGN movie reference with the “review bad thing” aspect.)

I’d also add that a lot of the TBF gravitas was also because Doug was trying to send off the NC into retirement, and his last two films were more lighthearted relatively speaking.

Linkara doesn’t have that caveat, so less excuses for him.

Pretty much. Channel Awesome was reduced to about 2/3 people, and several years later, the website croaked.

And just when Doug was on his last breaths, CA was able to regain its lost subscribers and Doug has been making videos consistently ever since.

Everybody that wasn't Brad sided with CTC. It was the big drama at the time so most people were obligated to side with those perceived to be the good guys.

Ultimate outcome of CTC was a total Nostalgia Critic Victory. Yeah they lost some subs at the start but they just kept on, gained em all back and even managed to salvage Dougs image as of today. Meanwhile, basically everyone on the CTC side has slowly backslid into irrelevance. Really the only person that came out of that drama looking really bad was JewWario who was finger banging unconscious chicks but he'd already opened his head up like a decade prior.

Yes. But this was only after most of the "talent" left and he figured he'd lose a lot of goodwill if he stayed on so he scarpered with the rest of them and has been against Doug ever since.

Probably Erod. Linky still had a bit of a fanbase afterwards but his growth has been pretty bad. Erod never managed to crack 20K subs. And his biggest gripe? "Doug didn't include me in the anniversary special and forgot I had a magic hammer!". Seriously. This was his biggest problem. A cancelled anniversary special and some bullshit about his character that nobody other than him cared about.

I definitely think in retrospect Doug probably is thankful CTC since he got free from those pain in the asses.

I remember he did a Christmas video some years ago around the time his mom died after CTC and Doug was announcing a move to a new larger Studio and he had cameos by Brad, Cinema Sins, AVGN, Black Nerd and some others and it felt like a real fuck you to the CTC guys. It was a last-ditch, desperate play to fill the hole Doug left, but instead, the grenade Allison tossed into the mix blew both their guts out. The internet basically threw its hands up in the air like, “I don’t care about any of this.”

As for Lewis and Allison: I think Allison just hit a creative wall. I mean, how much more can you milk from your childhood? Her big final moment was the Howling finale, and after that, she was pretty much just mooching off Phelan.

Lewis made a movie made that's even worse than Doug’s.

It felt like Shatner trying to make a film to one-up Nimoy's directorial success. Both Bill and Lewis pointed the finger at budget issues and tough co-stars, like that’s even the real reason.

Doug showing up in that Smiling Friends episode caused some psychic damage among the remaining CTC believers, there was a lot of seething for about a week about him being on actual TV.

It's kind of funny how dead it is - like once in a while I'll see someone mention it on Reddit but they're quickly overpowered by people saying that most of it had nothing to do with Doug. Dan Olsen was a big voice and he fucked up by trashing Quinton Reviews over the editor thing where Q didn't do anything wrong;

Lupa never moved on - even MarzGurl found a new thing to obsess over and lose her mind about.

I think two of Allison's biggest problems are one, she likes niche things, like Quantum Leap, and two, she's really really boring to listen to even if she has a script. She's never going to get a lot of followers talking about niche things and she's not charismatic enough to bring in people that wouldn't normally care about the things she likes.

She still seems to be of the mindset that just because she's a girl on the internet she should have a million followers and all her videos should have a ton of views. That's why she cries sexism every time she gets any pushback from trying to get in to a new fandom.
