I mean yeah, but can’t yall see that there was a little bit of BOTH? Yeah, Birdie was probably abused, and at the very least neglected, but they also exaggerated or straight up lied about abuse in some cases. So someone COULD see Birdie as an example of an abuse victim becoming an abuser, and others can see them as a liar because of their history. Either way, this discussion is utterly retarded this far into the thread. No, we don’t need to be talking about if they were truly abused or not because who the hell cares? They’re an adult now, and make their own decisions. What happened to them as a child can explain some minor things, but is completely irrelevant to the degenerate they are now. I mean, you can’t really explain away the whole ferret situation, abusing a baby, doxxing people, etc. as a result of abuse.
I wasn't denying that there's both, in fact, quite the opposite. People with BPD exaggerate their experiences, both because it genuinely can feel that way to them in the moment, and because they feed off of the sympathy they get for villainizing others. People with BPD are like emotional burn victims, but they also completely disregard the way they make other people feel unless they are experiencing social consequences. They have a very "I'm hurting, so everything you're feeling is irrelevant, especially if I caused it because you deserve it!" type of worldview, so whenever one comes to you talking about some awful thing they experienced at the hand of someone else, some type of doubt needs to be cast, lest you outcast and traumatize someone who's not that bad.
However, I just think it's fucking stupid to deny the realities of basic psychology while acting as if you're spewing facts. Regardless if this is the big bad evil kiwifarms, kiwifarms users are human too at the end of the day, humans with problems that are likely sympathizable. Yes, victims very often go off to hurt others in turn, especially if they are on the younger side as it's the developed frontal lobe in particular that helps you to make sound decisions. But the only way to recover from being an abuser is to realize that abusive behavior comes from a place of pain, not in a victim mentality type of way, but the type of way where you hold yourself accountable while understanding where this behavior is coming from, so you can work on it and heal it. The black and white thinking of these types of spaces is extremely detrimental to this, as it makes you go either one way or the other, and extreme forms of holding yourself accountable only cause self hatred which causes people to be disgusted with you in a different way. It's important to find a balance.
My hope is that someday, art spaces will once again be free from the extreme black and white thinking that permeates them, as fellow oldfags will know that cases such as Birdie did not really exist before 2017. Morality policing leads to repression, repression leads to bottled up feelings, and bottled up feelings explode in awful ways. I'm not saying this in reference to solely Birdie, don't get me wrong, zoophilia and grooming isn't a result of repression, I'm saying this because I know people who have resentments towards this mentality are undoubtedly reading this, and this morality policing culture leads to children having prolonged exposure to it not developing properly. The ability to call someone a retard is a necessary evil and I think if Birdie was allowed to do that to get people to shut the fuck up without thousands of people speculating on whether or not they're an ableist, I think a lot of things could have been avoided.
TL;DR: Yeah bippies are dumb fucking assholes who lack self awareness but denying reality only makes you look cool to retards and hurts well intended assholes who might actually wanna get better.
