I really think Lily's opinions get so much pushback not because they are inherently bad (I mean, they are, but) but because she's such an aggressive jackass about it.
No Lily. Nobody cares if you want to skip cutscenes. Most people acknowledge that games are made with a particular pacing in mind and wanting to skip cutscenes the first time through will damage the game as it's being presented... but most people don't really give a shit. What they care about is that you come out crying that the game sucks and the story is dumb and you don't know what's going on when you mashed through all the dialogue and didn't pay attention to the cutscenes.
No, Lily. People mostly don't care how you play a single-player game. They get upset if you insist that the game sucks and then it turns out you're trying to engage with it in a way that isn't really conducive to having fun with it. And that, instead of concluding that you're doing something wrong and learning, or that the game style isn't for you, you just insist that it sucks and people who do like it are babies for not acknowledging your superior opinion.
And yeah, some games have bad pacing with the dialogue, that's true. That's a problem with their individual writing, not the medium as a whole.
It's real funny to hear those complaints come from somebody who puts Kingdom Hearts -- a series that has some of the absolute worst cutscene pacing for a mainstream franchise -- on such a pedestal.
(EDIT: Actually maybe this is why? I honestly can't stand the way KH cutscenes are directed post-KHII and wound up completely tuning out when I tried to play Birth By Sleep. If my main exposure to video games was constantly replaying Kingdom Hearts I'd probably develop an innate aversion to cutscenes, too.)
Also I don't understand this. At all.
They don't comprehend the idea of genuinely enjoying games, they don't comprehend playing a game on Level 1 Crit when Normal Mode is there because they don't like games, they just like the treats they get for playing them.
...what? She's complaining, I think, about hardcore gamers who insist that Their Games be played A Certain Way, but then complains about people who... aren't hardcore gamers? The people who play on No Exp. Crit are the same sort of people that will tell you that the game is made the way it is for a reason and you shouldn't want to skip cutscenes the first time you play it.
Then she goes on to complain about people wanting bragging rights, as though No Exp Crit isn't something you do for personal bragging rights? What is she even on about.
Also also, real rich seeing Lily -- who spends a thousand words on a single circular conversation -- pulling out the line 'brevity is the soul of wit'.
