She named it "murderbug" in anticipation of the somewhat adequate bug type it will become.

She snaps at people that try and give Gen 1 tips. She calls Zubat a "blind parassitic blood sucker" and gives it an apt name

Goes on a long diatribe about how Luigi Mangione is innocent, in that weird solidarity way.
"Luigi Mangione is innocent, and if you wanna claim otherwise; no you didn't".

"If you see a random CEO get shot in the street, no you didn't, you did not see a damn thing. *flat voice* are we clear?"

Lily if you could have the police execute Britt and Courtney in the street you would.

Tuned out about 2 hours in, daylight savings is not kind to my sleep schedule.

Gotta love how insane Peet is whenever they do any of these late night/early morning streams, and expect a audience to show up.
One of the most common piece of advice from professional streamers (whether part or full time) is to make a schedule, and stick to it because consistency is key in retaining an audience.

I'll give Lily a tiny bit of sympathy because I can understand not wanting too much backseating, especially in a game like Pokemon where you might be playing with certain mons/rules/etc. and aren't aiming for "optimal" gameplay. However, Gen 1 just has a lot of oddities and quirks that were fixed/ironed out in the modern games, so there's a big difference between trying to explain how something works versus backseating. And given that Lily struggles so much with, well, everything, he really has no place to snap at his audience.

..."Yellow Legacy" increases the difficulty of Pokémon trainer battles, particularly bosses, to enhance engagement without simply being hard for the sake of it. The goal is to provide a challenging yet rewarding experience, with major trainers having Pokémon and movesets tailored to counter players relying on single super-effective Pokémon. Players are encouraged to build diverse teams for these challenges. Pokémon availability adjusts as players progress, ensuring appropriately powerful encounters. Additionally, all 151 Pokémon can be obtained in one playthrough, and some post-game content is included.
I don't think that foolproof Butterfree strat of yours will work this time, Peet.

Update:
She switched over to Gen 3. Because Gardevoir is there. It's an old game cause her character is named Lily.
Took a shot at the battle frontier so she could record footage for a post game video.
Her entire team gets hard walled by a chansey. After Gardevoir gets seismic tossed into oblivion she rage quits, cut to Tai and Kari implied incest drawing.

Needless to say she scraps the post game video idea, hope her fans are excited for Avaturd Niva! ;)

Peet is really bad. After playing for 100s (1000s?) of hours he still has no clue about the basics. He knows each of Chansey's four moves. Double Team, Softboiled, Shadow Ball, and Seismic Toss. Out of all those moves the only physical attack is Seismic Toss which does a fixed amount of damage equal to the user's level. Peet makes the sixmillion IQ decision to use Reflect - which raises your defense - which lowers the damage taken by physical attacks - which in this case will do absolutely nothing since Seismic Toss's damage is fixed.
You're just not cut out to be a Pokemon master, Jerry. You're too STUPID.

I love Pokemon as a franchise, but doing that retrospective made me utterly despise the games from a gameplay perspective.

So much fluff and padding, that damn combat log dragging out every single turn, the loading, the verbosity, you spend so much of those games simply WAITING.
I distinctly recall my nephew asking if he could play my copy of Legends Arceus and after half an hour he was completely bored of it because the NPCs wouldn't stop talking and let him play.

"Shut up and let me play" should be beaten into the heads of every developer in the industry.
"Oh so you just hate story?!"

No, I like good story.

But a good story knows that brevity is the soul of wit, and bad video game stories seem to operate under the delusion that

quantity = quality.
IMG_6617.jpeg
People get so weird about cutscene skipping in video games. When games that don't have it are suggested to have it, some fans insist it shouldn't be available on the first playthrough.

Why? There's no reason to do that. That's so weirdly petty.
They don't comprehend the idea of genuinely enjoying games, they don't comprehend playing a game on Level 1 Crit when Normal Mode is there because they don't like games, they just like the treats they get for playing them.

People who NEED rewards to do anything.
A lot of gamers are way too concerned with how other people play games for this very reason:

They're too concerned with getting bragging rights and fail to realize that most people aren't interested in bragging because you have to be a cunt to brag in the first place.

Since we're back on pokemon, I'll be turning my male Ralts into a Gallade just to spite Lily. Ralts still has to evolve into Kirlia, which for reference looks like this:
IMG_3061.jpeg
Meanwhile Gallade, Gardevoir's counterpart, has a more male-coded presentation:

So, it felt like a good narrative fit to name Ralts the following:

Lil guy has a whole character arc planned out for him. :heart-full:
ETA: To balance out the bigotry in this dumb little headcanon I'm doing, my team will include an out and proud trans man:
IMG_3063.jpeg
All that stuff about skipping cutscenes

Once again, I would argue that although Pokemon games do have an adult audience, they are meant for kids. Kids' reading abilities have dropped dramatically over the last couple of decades, at least in North America. We don't need to make their media even more instant gratification than they already are, they can put up with a little reading before they start their pokemon game. I think the better solution, honestly, would center on making the dialogue more entertaining.

That's exactly what I was making fun Peet for. Streaming at late, or early hours of the morning, and not even announcing it to the people is a bona fide way to make sure it tanks in the long run. You would think this asshole would know this given all the time they've been content creating, but once again ego, and arrogance blind a sister fucker.

I really think Lily's opinions get so much pushback not because they are inherently bad (I mean, they are, but) but because she's such an aggressive jackass about it.

No Lily. Nobody cares if you want to skip cutscenes. Most people acknowledge that games are made with a particular pacing in mind and wanting to skip cutscenes the first time through will damage the game as it's being presented... but most people don't really give a shit. What they care about is that you come out crying that the game sucks and the story is dumb and you don't know what's going on when you mashed through all the dialogue and didn't pay attention to the cutscenes.

No, Lily. People mostly don't care how you play a single-player game. They get upset if you insist that the game sucks and then it turns out you're trying to engage with it in a way that isn't really conducive to having fun with it. And that, instead of concluding that you're doing something wrong and learning, or that the game style isn't for you, you just insist that it sucks and people who do like it are babies for not acknowledging your superior opinion.

And yeah, some games have bad pacing with the dialogue, that's true. That's a problem with their individual writing, not the medium as a whole.

It's real funny to hear those complaints come from somebody who puts Kingdom Hearts -- a series that has some of the absolute worst cutscene pacing for a mainstream franchise -- on such a pedestal.

(EDIT: Actually maybe this is why? I honestly can't stand the way KH cutscenes are directed post-KHII and wound up completely tuning out when I tried to play Birth By Sleep. If my main exposure to video games was constantly replaying Kingdom Hearts I'd probably develop an innate aversion to cutscenes, too.)

Also I don't understand this. At all.

They don't comprehend the idea of genuinely enjoying games, they don't comprehend playing a game on Level 1 Crit when Normal Mode is there because they don't like games, they just like the treats they get for playing them.

...what? She's complaining, I think, about hardcore gamers who insist that Their Games be played A Certain Way, but then complains about people who... aren't hardcore gamers? The people who play on No Exp. Crit are the same sort of people that will tell you that the game is made the way it is for a reason and you shouldn't want to skip cutscenes the first time you play it.

Then she goes on to complain about people wanting bragging rights, as though No Exp Crit isn't something you do for personal bragging rights? What is she even on about.

Also also, real rich seeing Lily -- who spends a thousand words on a single circular conversation -- pulling out the line 'brevity is the soul of wit'.

I mean I don't get why you'd want to skip everything. Like it's not even about challenge, I just straight up don't get the point. Like why play a game if you're gonna skip most of it? You can't even say it's for those who just want the story, because story is often told in gameplay.

So I can play whatever part of a game I want, whenever I want.

Chopping up an anon’s ask because fuck letting these dipshits tryna use my askbox as a roundabout way to slander my friends.
“Guys I don't really like the incest cannibal game I based my entire personality around. You guys are the cringe weird ones for admitting to enjoying it instead of being as pussy about it as possible and shaming others who are into it.”
Oh, don’t get it twisted; I do like the visual novel. The only thing that separates me from the vocal consensus of the fandom is that I don’t do the typical fandom culture behavior of being a complete asswipe to people who have legitimate criticisms of it.
“Fucking losers[,] thank god CD and I are the only normal ones in this helll [sic] fandom!!1!”
If I ever actually gave off the impression at any point within the last 16 months that I thought I was in any way “normal,” I apologize for the unintentional deception.
“I want to fuck my mother so bad"
Pffft okay yeah that’s pretty funny.

65% Love: my being weird about this game introduced me to several good friends who currently make up the bulk of my social circles, and for that this shitpost of a Visual Novel will always have a cozy little spot in my heart labeled "this is trash but it's my trash"...
20% Pissing People Off: Specifically, CD's Stalkers.
15% For The Bit: ngl, this number used to be higher lol

It's like that with most lolcows. They don't know to act when someone acts negatively towards them, so they turn up the heat and hope it'll cause the other person to stop. As you can plainly see by this place still going strong, it doesn't work.

ACKSULLY Ghost is physical damaging in generations 1-3. *yawn* This doesn't matter as Lily never said anything about Pokemon mechanics so he is too stupid to realize that and the Seismic Toss point stull stands. :sighduck:

To be fair, the Battle Frontier is a hard challenge. There's guides online to help you out and some facilities are based more on luck than skill. However, Jerry is more stubborn than reoccuring cancer and stupider than it too, and I don't think he could handle showing people how he played the Battle Frontier since he can't win it all the way. He could just do a few battles, showcase what some of them are, give an opinion and then explain he doesn't have the drive to finish it and move on elsewhere. He could even link a video of someone else's thoughts on it, earning good will from that Youtuber and their audience. But he doesn't care about other youtubers and he will be ego broken if he plays the footage of him losing in any way. Hell, even his wins might get made fun of if he does them in the most brainless way possible.

not because they are inherently bad (I mean, they are, but) but because she's such an aggressive jackass about it.
On the one hand, you could say arguing is good for engagement, on the other, it isn't helping Jerry at all since he does it to both people he dislikes AND people he likes. Lily's just that toxic.

And that, instead of concluding that you're doing something wrong and learning, or that the game style isn't for you, you just insist that it sucks and people who do like it are babies for not acknowledging your superior opinion.
The crux of it all. If Jerry didn't always need to be right, he could have more people who liked his videos. He will never change since that would hurt his weak ego too much.

Then she goes on to complain about people wanting bragging rights, as though No Exp Crit isn't something you do for personal bragging rights? What is she even on about.
Jerry just wants everyone who plays a video game that isn't him to fuck off, I think. Insulting everyone for the sake of it, making sure everyone knows their place (below Jerry).

Also also, real rich seeing Lily -- who spends a thousand words on a single circular conversation -- pulling out the line 'brevity is the soul of wit'.
That was my first thought too. :story:

I'd try and explain why we don't have everything skippable or chooseable at all times to Jerry but his brain is likely the type of brain that can only get satisfaction out of immediate pleasure. And I say type of brain since I don't know if it can be trained into him: school didn't, video games didn't, pretty much nothing has compelled him to try and develop the skill.

I hate this wanna be mother fucker.
"I wanna boink my mommy, tee hee, not really /sneed"
That's every stream with him in the chat.

I have a conspiracy theory that Lily keeps him around just to seem less gross.
But Lily you're willing to be friends with this creep, that reflects poorly on you.

She does that so often and she would get a hell of a lot less backlash if she was just willing to be...you know...nicer? Not an asshole?

Being mean or abrasive isn't a shortcut to snarkiness and intelligence, some people like Lily are still stuck in the channel awesome era though.

Although funnily enough, you know what series lets you play most of the game in whatever order you want, and lets you skip every cutscene and piece of dialogue?
I'll give you a hint, it's not kingdom hearts.

Honestly, I didn't know for most of my time playing these damn games. You'd think it'd be special because fuckin' A, ghost don't punch people with a physical body! I think they did that to counter a lot of psychic's high special & low defense stats in the early days. Thank god for the physical/special split.

There's no in game guide or reminder and unless you've been playing the meta a lot for gen 1-3, it is easy to forget. Considering the entire ghost type was 3 Pokemon (as in the entire Gengar line only) in gen 1, 4 in gen 2, and fucking EIGHT in gen 3, it's not like ghost were dominating with STAB moves or anything, the few there had other utility.

You still know more than Lily, which is a low bar but Lily would never admit that. He'd call you a no-life no-fun competitive douche who only wants to stroke his e-penis. :sighduck:

Honestly Chancey's gen 2-3 Shadow Ball hits about as hard as a ping pong ball with that base 5 Attack, so that Reflect was a waste of turn that could have been spent spamming Calm Mind so that he had a hope of killing the damn thing. @GameratePTSD, put back on that flashy tunic and flex those Gym badges, you were just objectively right.
