Civvie 11 - Retro FPS Boomer

You mean the leaked 2001 version that's now "fully playable"?

Civvie even played a beta:
That's not even the UE1 version of DNF, it's the Quake 2 version (which had barely any work done to it before the engine switch), and as much as i like to shit on fatass George Broussard for chasing trends for 12 years instead of finishing the game, he understood Duke better than Gearbox and didn't saw the character as a living clown like how Gearbox and zoomers see him nowadays, which makes me afraid of a new Duke game.
I am of the opinion that [he] should have finished polishing the initial DNF game, made in the Q2 engine, with Shelley as sidekick. I'll admit that the UE1 version could have been a "Deus Ex killer", and could have beaten Half-Life 2 in some aspects, but lardass Broussard understood Duke way too much for his own good.

We could have had 2 great idTech 2.5 games in the same year - one that took itself pretty seriously (Soldier Of Fortune) and another one that would have been a blast.

To this day, there's nothing that played like Douk - the closest we've ever gotten to a Douk game was Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, which is precisely what fans want: a game where nothing is taken too seriously.

And yes, I've read that the leaked DNF 2000 game is now co-opted by troons, so that already puts me off playing it.

Speaking of AvP2, I've been replaying the Marine campaign, it's fucking glorious.

Claw, nobody expects a mascot platformer double whammy. Or Gruntz if we're really going Freaksville.
Claw is severely underrated, and there is a possibility we might see an episode on it since he did platformers before(most recently, Jazz Jackrabbit).
There was already a Claw cameo in the Shogo episode. Gruntz is too obscure, I doubt Civvie even knows about it.

Fair enough, Gruntz is definitely one of those obscure titles that only those 90s kids with too much access to their dad's PC and too many shareware-filled CDs that came along with computer magazines laying about would know (give puzzle pieces brothers, I know you're out there)

God damn I hope he somehow uses all his Youtoob clout and gets that and NOLF 2 on steam or GoG those games ruled.
There have been attempts to get NOLF out of legal hell but good luck with that. A decade ago Nightdive actually trademarked NOLF and tried to get the rights from Monolith. The thing is though no one knows who owns the rights to it.
NOLF was published by Fox Interactive but they got bought out by Vivendi, who got bought out by Activision. Monolith got bought out by Warner so the rights are either with Fox Studios through Fox Interactive where they kept the IP rights, Warner Studios through buying Monolith or Activison by buying Vivendi. This was in mid 2014. Activision's community manager Dan Amrich said at the time that Activision had traded some IPs away also so not even their own team is sure if they own it.
Fast forward to today and Fox was bought out by Disney, Warner has shut down Monolith and Activision was bought by Microsoft. If you thought trying to find it a decade ago was hard, trying going up against companies that arn't even interested in something like NOLF. They won't even look through their IP catalogs just to see if they own it.

If you want to play it, you can find download links at the revival project. It works right out of the box.

The youtoob algo was kind enough to bring up this guy's small channel.

As a Quake II enjoyer, those were bretty gud. He takes some cues from civvie but overall, pretty comfy.

This is true, altho it's been co-opted from nearly the beginning. Duke fanbase is overrun by troons in general, as is the "boomer shooter" clique. It was over the moment they started "adjusting the humor" so that nobody would get triggered by it, focusing on Duke's one-liners towards women.

At least the leaked files are out there and anybody can fix them, it's just that nobody aside from the troons seems to care about fixing the game.
