In California a lot of potential hired help would be mandatory reporters. Hiring any licensed nanny would be essentially having a person obligated by state law to report for suspected abuse or neglect in the home. No chance in hell they do that.

Edit: The law is the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (“CANRA”), codified at California Penal Code §§ 11164-11174.3 for anyone unsure who is and isn't a mandatory reporter. They're serious about that shit in CA unless you're a child actor.

No, he is. If he's in CA and is really a psychological assistant it's a crime to not report witnessed, known, or suspected ca. The penalty is only 6 months and/or a $1,000 dollar fine though sadly.

HOWEVER.
Mandated Reporters are only required to report suspected child abuse and neglect while working or volunteering within their professional capacity per PC11166 (A). They cannot be penalized for failure to report at other times.

So a hired nanny would be required to report, but her faggot boyfriend is not, by law.
