The Economic Collapse of 2025 - Are you tired of winning yet?

Boycotts of American goods are on the rise; even Tesla's are in the firing line abroad with sales plummeting (but there is increase in competition to be fair), but yeah, if buying our goods is associated with arrogance and hegemony, then that is sad.

I should become a farmer. If you get screwed by tariffs the government hands you out money to keep your farm; and because we produce so much and export so much, if the receiving country slaps tariffs, then again, you get another socialist handout.

Farmers have it good either way.

What American goods? Nothing is made in america anymore (not for export at least).
You'd be surprised how many common household goods are made in the U.S., since their manufacture can be easily automated and whatever labor and supply savings they can make sending it to China are overwhelmed by shipping costs.

In general, if it's a fast-moving consumer good like shampoo, detergent, deodorant, etc., it's probably made here. I have a bag of cotton rounds for exfoliating my face and it was also made here.

A lot of wood and paper products are also made here. Most of the cardboard Amazon ships your plastic crap in is made here, as is a lot of toilet paper and paper towels.

The market segment we basically don't manufacture anything in is consumer electronics, since their assembly is complicated enough where it take much longer to pay off the automation than it would to pay some third worlders to slap it together. That said, with the price of robotic arms, and particularly small universal robots going down combined with AI learning could bring the cost of implementing automation down enough where overseas shipping costs savings could finally eclipse third world labor costs savings.

If you're interested there's a number of websites that promote American-made products, like this one.

America has a longer growing period than Canada. Hell southern US states can grow things longer than the northern states, because warmer weather.
Time will tell if this will become a source of irritation for Leafs.

Farmers might whine about deportation making it impossible to harvest the crops, but a SMART farmer will go ahead and pay legal workers to keep things going.
The whiners are just admitting to the public that they were taking advantage of undocumented people.

I do wish people would knock it off about egg prices. Eat something else for a few months until the flocks can be replaced and throw darts a pictures of Joe Biden in the meantime. Chickens should be laying again by summer.

without Canadian potash you don’t grow anything and you all fucking starve, nigger

Genuinely curious, what was Kamala's economic policy? I'm not super well informed.
She never promised to start an unnecessary trade war and tank the collective North American economy while also burning bridges with our allies, for one. I think that's pretty important for economic policy, not intentionally fucking up our international trade relations through unforced error.

But the boring policy stuff that most Americans ignored during the election in favor of culture war shit:
Her plan revolved entirely around stimulating growth in the middle class via entrepreneurship, home buying and childcare.
>invest a shitload in small businesses to drive growth, reduce taxes on small businesses
>$25,000 down payment assistance for first time homebuyers (which are a tiny fraction of people, mainly middle class college grads)
>raise taxes on billionaires by 7% (not back to 35% like it was in Obama term 2, but it's progress)
>40 billion to build new homes to assuage the housing crisis
>build at minimum 3 million new homes to accommodate new homeowners
>Lower drug costs like Biden did via Medicare negotiating down prices with Pharma companies
>$6,000 tax credit for newborn children, permanent $3,600 per kid tax credit for people who already have kids
Granted, all of this requires congressional approval (the lame old fashioned way) and that would require voters to not be retarded and give the dems a bicameral supermajority to actually get shit done like they did in the first Obama term, instead of being bogged down by Mitch McConnell's shitfuckery. Trump hasn't passed any legislation through congress, every single one of his actions in the last three months has been via executive order.

If Trump actually approached this tariff policy by allocating funding towards/signing deals focused on building more factories in America and THEN instating steep tariffs at their completion, maybe I and most other people could get behind them. But as of right now, he's kneecapping the economy for no other reason besides petty ego. Doing it the rational way is too slow, and not flashy enough for the media that got him re-elected, so constant sweeping quasi-legal motions and international dickmeasuring contests are the way to go!

We are in the content-creation presidency! The 24-hour news cycle demands constant chaos to thrive!

250%? 100%? 25%? 10%? Today? Tomorrow? 1st of the month? Last of the month? Cars yes? Cars no? This week? Next week?

tomorrow is hump day which means Trump
More than likely won’t have a baby fit and we might see markets settle for the day.

Is this the appropriate thread for egg dooming?

Dry egg noodles have about 64 grams of protein (~10.7 eggs) per pound for around $2 or less, so I would stock up on some of those. You do have to eat 320 grams of carbs to consume the protein though. Shouldn't be too hard for an American.

Cabbage is going on sale due to Irish Day so you can make a dish like this with your egg noodles, assuming you can afford the butter.

Canada is going full steam on "nothing American", to the point of yeeting booze and strawberries.
IDK why anyone was buying out-of-season strawberries shipped from 3000km away. They taste like cardboard.

Enjoy them fresh in season locally and if you really need something to throw in yogurt or whatever use frozen ones from the previous season.

How many farmers do you think weren't hiring undocumented people at all this entire time and remained competitive in pricing?

Honest question because I'm not a burger.

I have to figure most were, because if your competitor is making shit for half the price for the past 10+ years using "this one secret lifehack ICE don't want you to know about" then everyone would be?

Canada is not the only source of potassium rich soil additives. Nice try though.

No idea. Industrial farming is an oddly complicated profession.

I thought this was all just el trumpo doing his usual scumbag hustler negotiation tactics but no just like 4D chess wasnt real he is retarded, he is going for it, the tariffs and breaking up treaties is happening even when he gets what he wants from other countries

In short you niggers are fucked, once those tariffs are up its never going back because big government will be getting so much money from you paying $50k for a fucking honda civic they are never gonna turn it down, after all what you gonna do? walk 40 miles to work? you are gonna buy that 50k civic like a bitch and load it with gas at $20 a gallon just to go to work to pay 50% of your income in taxes and tariffs to keep this retardness going

>what if I'm a cuck living in a walkable bughive

Then you are gonna pay $15 to ride a nigger infested subway thats falling apart, congrats you cant win

>you cant become a third world country

yeah you can, easier than for a third world country to become a first world country even, argentina was the 5th richest country in the world once and look what tariffs and shit did, what you think this is a theory? it happened before

>but I buy american

And? you think 100% of what says made in usa its actually made in the usa? that none of the suppliers use imported stuff in the process? come on now that has never been the case, even in the best of the times some stuff was 100% imported like rubber, you barely make any semiconductors anymore and you cant make a foundry in a day, its not a fucking tractor factory

>there are 10 times more americans than argentines its a bigger market blahblah

It doesnt matter companies are not gonna destroy their entire production line to bring it back they just gonna charge you that 25% in tariffs while selling to the rest of the world without that 25% which is what happens here. factories wont come back because if they do it will be to sell americans while selling to the rest of the world with tariffs since all american exports are about to get taxed out the ass in retaliation, see the problem?

My advice? get used to this shit, even if the democrats come back they are not gonna remove the tariffs, in fact they are gonna start all kinds of programs and other wasteful corrupt shit to get the money from the tariffs for themselves so there will be even more motivation to kept them up
