Artcow Ken Penders - Former Archie Sonic Comic Writer/Artist

I honestly don't mind people buying these. Penders opinions have impact on like five people, so I don't think the separating the art from the artist is a real problem here.
Even a lot of the haters have fond memories of reading his comics back in the day.

I loved the Lara-Su Chronicles. It's obviously not good from a quality point of view, but it definitely entertained me more than a lot of "high quality" media from the past five years. I really hope he continues it and goes even more unhinged. And while his excuse not leaving Xitter was obviously disingenuous, I do think he understands the real autistic part of the fandom better than Ian. They just don't like hearing it.
I always feel ridiculous defending him here, but at this point I should probably just embrace it:)

You want to know the worst part? It used to be better.
This is better?

Christ.

You need to see how he captures humans!

That’s from Nights into Dreams, but I think they switched artists like every two issues before it got axed, and they were all terrible. The only thing that stuck with me were the endless shots of Claris’ ass, which looks like two perfectly polished bowling balls.

Interesting. Early in the thread people keep telling him to stick with humans. But even here he's not that good either. My gosh.

He used to stick to a style, where his short comings weren't to obvious. The Sonic style didn't mesh well with it, but it's the only thing he's known for, so he kind of has to stick with it.
I personally love it! ;)

He could do sanic when he had someone cracking a whip to keep him on-model. What he does now is uncanny as fuck and just keeps getting weirder and more autistic.

Idk a lot of people did not like his Sonic artwork to begin with.
People always say he changed the style, so it's less likely that he'll be sued. I personally think it's just classic deviantart autism: Taking a character from a childrens franchise and making them more "grown-up" and "edgy".

Holy shit, I used to visit a webzone back in the day that had the whole of this comic uploaded with the text replaced with parody script. The art is ASTONISHINGLY bad througout. Of course the only sort of adaptation NiGHTS gets is this fucking abortion.

He wasn't even responsible for his win. It was Archie's absolute incompetence, actually losing the contract, that made it possible, and all it got him was the right to cringy characters who were immediately memory holed from the Sonic universe.
That's the funniest thing about him, and why I find him so hilarious and have for years. He's always on about his amazing victory and he was up against what turned out to be the dumbest comic book company in the world. and what he got was a bunch of bullshit that only makes any sense in the context of the IP it's based on, let alone the time and place of that specific flavor of said IP being long past it's relevance, and literally killed because he won it, thereby guaranteeing it won't gain any substantial new followers.

and what does he do with it? make an extremely ugly more "mature" follow up as his magnum opus, his life's work, featuring some small potatoes characters from it without being able to use the things people read his original work for in the first place, insists on releasing it on a digital multimedia app a whole 15 years after when that would have been relevant in the early days of the iPod touch or iPhone, after 15 years, his first physical release is 30 new pages in a reprint collection with the most hilarious juxtaposition I've ever seen going from old to new material.

Ken is just fucking hilarious. the people who viciously hate him are even more retarded than he is, he's just a funny guy in general, everything he does seems so counterintuitive, and he's entirely convinced his work, is THE SHIT. that's hilarious. Imagine drawing that picture of Julie Su breastfeeding and thinking to yourself, damn this is good stuff. He's entirely convinced he's making a masterpiece. how could anyone hate the guy? He's a riot.

Having caught up to the thread fully now, have to agree. When I got to the part in the thread where he actually put out the Laura Sue book, I was actually kinda happy, simply because he actually stuck with his shitty style and ideas for 10 years and got it published. He is still a cringe politisperg that got immensely lucky with Archie, but I can't help but smile at this classic cow.

I feel you on this part. I tend to defend him quite a bit even though I don't really care about him, mainly because people always want to see him get some comeuppance but he's never really done anything wrong. He's just an idiot with delusions of self grandeur who spends far too much of his time absorbing DNC talking points and arguing with gay furries on the internet.

People have argued with me before about his right to sell this shit and I gave specific examples of other IP related situations that show there's at least precedent for this kind of thing and it obviously still pisses people off. I just don't get it. His gay comics aren't hurting anyone, and neither are his reprints.

Even his old comics, people seem to hate so viscerally but can't ever put them in the context of what they were, loose tie in books for a kid's property that had next to no oversight. It doesn't magically make them good. They aren't, and unless you're a child there's probably nothing in them for you but there's also nothing in there worth getting upset over, they're worth a laugh.

To be honest, I think most people who now have hatred for Ken are like those who just recently found out about the guy (maybe via vids or something), it's kinda how you suddenly have people who recently started talking about Dobson. Everyone who had experience with Ken in the past and raged about his ass on the golden forum days has long moved on. Most they will do is share stories of his bad writing and have a good laugh at how up his own arse the dude was.
