While Colon Capital V thinks all artists are one spinny skirt away from trooning out, what kinds of artists, art types, schools of thought, and anything else art wise you personally hate? It can be something like Pointalism, a person like Jackson Polock, a group of people, a type of person, or even bad experiences you had with self proclaimed artists. Let's have a discussion and prolonged shitting session for fun.

I have to think on this myself, I'll see if I can put up a coherent response later.

I do not like that "culture" of pro-copyright fanaticism among at least Western artists. Like on deviantART where even the slightest copying can be treated as this horrible "art theft", or a "gathering of tribes" of artists protesting a proposed "orphan works" law that would allow more free use of art. Such people want power through copyright?

Besides fetish artists, rule 34 artists, and any other weirdos, I really hate modern art that's just a money laundering scheme. Just a bunch of dumb squiggly lines is NOT art. It does not send a socio political message or reflect on the thoughts of the artist. It's just some talentless hack who got lucky and can sell garbage to upper class, high society prudes who buy superfluous slop.

Webcomic artists. It's not just dobson, I hate all of them to some degree including stonetoss. These are people who went to artschool or are self taught but are so fucking lazy that they pick a shit style which gives them easy returns when they insert politics. It's also a huge insult to actual political cartoonists of the past, people like edward linley sambourne (absolute legend who drew the rhodes colossus cartoon which looks genuinely amazing), people who put a lot of effort into their work and skill level. A lot of the webcomic animu artstyle bled into the comics of the 2000s which also sucks.

I personally hate artists who are satisfied with their work. I think if you're in any of the artistic fields, including writing and music n shit, self satisfaction is a death knell to any sort of improvement. It's depressing but it helps people improve. Or it's probably envy cause whatever I do I think it sucks.

George alexopoulos, idk I think he is a bit of a whiny bitch. His arts okay, could be a lot better but as it stands, very sketchy mediocre style.

The gen x/gen y comic and animation artists of the anglosphere. I lump them all in the same category cause they're all the same, very few are distinguishable. Just pastel sludge which looks like ripoffs of better work. If you see every recognizable animator or comic artist, the celebrity kind like tartakovsky or jim lee, all of them are older than 45 (maybe greg capullo is younger I'm not sure). Idk wtf happened to gen x and y, there was some exposure to chemicals I presume.

I hate everyone who operates on the notion that art is anything that is done for the purpose of causing emotions, aka "art makes you feel, dude".
As in, a banana taped to a wall is "art" because it causes controversy, yadda yadda.

My understanding of art is essentially equivalent to handiwork (cf. German "Kunst" (art) having the same root as "können" (to be able)), so great art is defined as something that is done very expertly. Accordingly, highly performant and elegant source code is art, an extraordinarily ergonomic and high quality office chair is art, but a banana taped to a wall or a paintball ejected from a vagina onto a canvas is not.

People that are compete shit at art but for some reason decide to go to art school. An example of this that I can think of is this guy called EncountersLTD. He goes to an art school and doesn't have a real job yet his art looks like this:

He doesn't make much art though because he has to spend all day pollitisperging on twitter.

These people are dime a dozen, I just chose this guy in particular because he is the first one that I could think of.

The way I see it, there's 3 ways art can be "real art", and the more criteria met the more "real art" it is. Of course, these criteria can still be subjective to an extent.

skillfully done
looks beautiful
thing is "deep"

"skillfully done" is the easiest and least ambiguous to ascertain.
"looks beautiful" is extremely subjective. For instance, and I am saying this not for the sake of argument, but completely sincerely, I have come across lines of logic and proofs of philosophical arguments that I found beautiful because how how effective, elegant, and efficient they were. But everyone could just claim they're literally just words, not even in some fancy font, so they can't look beautiful.
"deep" is so absurdly vague it's not even worth dissecting

EDIT: Maybe a more accessible or understandable "I find this beautiful" can be seen in some explanations of mathematical logic. Like, there are so many visual proofs, or visual demonstrations of mathematical proofs, that get called beautiful or elegant constantly.

My obligatory mention is SJW art. The art is either hideous or misplaced talent, and if you ask for critique you get the laziest advice or just SJW "more minorities" thing.

All of them i like some art but hate all artists.
Simple as.

Everyone can enjoy pretty images, but you never have to like the people who make them.

Entitled Twitter Artists who blow up at someone for questioning their commission prices or the type who insert their ideology into unrelated things.

Though AI art easily makes stupid or even eldritch mistakes, at least AI doesn't flip out on you nor go anal with copyright. But AI can be lobotomized by "woke" developers.

And unlike commissions from human artists, AI-generated art can easily be free to prompt.

The cool types of artists are the older folks you meet at arts and crafts fairs who are clearly passionate about something but are also very relaxed about it and just enjoy making things for the sake of making them, whether it is painting or woodworking. The most visible artists will always be those that flip the fuck out, whether it is their actual personality or by social media poisoning, as people will always talk about insane fucks (see: this site). You have to be a little psychotic to post enough to be visable enough to social meida, you have to be a little psycho by artists' standards to get notability outside the art world (functional artists stay in the shadows).

I never get mad at people who dislike artists: a lot of visible artists are tools. They'll likely be friends with someone who paints in their spare time or holds graphic design jobs if they're chill. I only get sad when they toss the fun act of drawing, painting, crafting, and other art pursuits away. Most people who hate artists that cheer on AI art enjoy the creativity without the ego and the world of possiblities it opens up, they don't want creativity to be monopolized by throughly unlikeable people who had enough of daddy's money to get an art school degree by flinging their shit on the wall. It's an understandable position as someone who does art herself, and it mostly pisses off people who deserved to be pissed. :story:
