There was also a twitter thread by an economicist who is now part of the Trump admin talking about the tarrifs and the games he's playing with them from about 50-100 pages back, which I don't have handy, and I think it talked about this too.

In short, the stock market is fake and gay and tying it to our general economy was a huge fucking mistake. The ... M2? number shows there's MASSIVE stock fraud going on (they claim to have more money than the rest of the Earth combined in the market or somesuch bullshit) and remember, the GameStop thing revealed they were literally counterfeiting stock on an industrial scale as a matter of course. It's why they had such a huge freakout as to literally prevent people from accessing the stock market and having Google/Apple disable new downloads of any stock trading apps while they slowly unwound the damage. It came within a few minutes of causing a complete crash.

Her tax guy was saying she should get an IRA. I told her given my situation I dont really like those things. I personally think uncle sam should just take his fucking cut, up front. in all cases. Tax deferment is stupid.
That's called a ROTH IRA. ROTH means you pay taxes as it goes in, not when it comes out.

Serious question what percentage of the people have 401k ? Sounds like upper class shit
If you have a “career” job, you probably have a 401k. It’s not required for you to contribute to it though, but you get income tax breaks if you do.

Apparently about 50% of working adults have a 401k.

This feels at the moment like getting a tooth pulled, in the moment it hurts but you'll be better of with that tooth. Also only people who don't have an actual job care about the stock market.

Rather, Jordan said, he would expect the H-1B overhaul to come up as one of any number of concessions Republicans might make to sway Democrats in the Senate, who will be needed to clear any legislation for the president’s signature.
Don’t worry, the Jeets are a compromise!

:(

Your response sounds like some unemployed shit to be honest, I'm pretty sure fast food does 401k matching at this point. If you've ever worked in a private sector career of any type you'll at least be offered a 401k and likely have an IRA Roth or otherwise.
I worked in fast food for about a year. Some places will do benefits like healthcare/401k matching/paying for college but that's only for managers or fulltime staff, they're not going to offer perks to the min wage gruntworkers.

The hand-wringing over the stock market by conservatives is annoying. I have never given a shit about the stock market, it's socially acceptable gambling for people with too much money. If there is somehow a difference between stock "investment" and gambling on cryptocurrency I'd love to be enlightened.

thank you.

one of my boomer cousins did 30 plus years as a teacher in CA.

He also basically livid with his parents the whole time. He threw alot of money into an IRA. and now at the age of 70 being semi retired he s having stress over money because of the situation.

He woulda been better off throwing that money into a 30 year mortgage in the 1990s the house woulda been worth more.

You get dividends from certain stocks, which means you actually get a tiny share of whatever profit that company makes.

Non-dividend stocks are basically gambling on sentiment like modern crypto.

Our entire economy has been awaiting a massive collapse in 2008 when wall street basically created a housing bubble that burst, leaving them holding the bag. It was only held off because they didn't want it to happen under King Nigger's watch and have no idea how to make it a soft landing that wouldn't be absolutely apocalyptic. The problem is, the only thing they could think of doing -- printing money -- is only making the problem worse every day and will never solve the issue, it only puts it off. The only way out now is to completely reset the currency... which they already wanted to do, so. Never let a good crisis go to waste and all that.

Economicists that support QE and the debt economy and don't recognize the pending 2008 collapse should be treated the same way you treat old NeoCons that think we absolutely could have won Vietnam if we were just [insert boomer rambling here]. They will not, they can not, accept they were wrong, and they will go to their graves believing they were right. See also the "it wasn't real communism" crowd.

You don't understand @Back me up! ! This will make the line go up! That is INHERENTLY GOOD for the Baby Boomers. That is, by definition, the only good that matters. The line must always go up. The boomers promised themselves they'd retire in comfort and luxury, and the rest of us are REQUIRED to hold good to that promise they made to themselves. Even if they have to make their grandchildren live in 400 square foot apartment complexes next to infinity jeets running around shitting on everything and sexually assaulting any women who don't go outside with armed guards.

Value investments over growth investments. Low P/E ratio. Solid fundamentals, leadership who aren't 'tarded. Industries that don't tend to have big shakeups.
Or just dump money into an index fund or three and don't pay attention until retirement.

why is newsom suddenly ok with Bannon?
Think he is trying to seem more centrist (more right-wing) in order to cater to voters in 2028 should he try to run for president. We have all seen how the strategy of screaming at Trump and his supporters has gone for Democrats so maybe pretending to tolerate them might go better for one's political ambitions.

yeah he's probably getting his name out there early so he's got some favorable recognition (in theory) as he pivots center
also I've seen speculation it's also sorta soft practice to make sure he's not totally fucked on a debate stage

May they one day drown in the Ganges of the pajeets they so love.
There's that saying... "Society grows great when people plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in."

Boomers have quite literally the exact fucking opposite worldview. "I'll never see that shade so I'm going to chop down the trees my parents planted and sell the land to the Chinese so I can go on a cruise and buy a new car."

I have no idea what happens to our society in the next 10-20 years when the boomers all blessedly fuck off and die. A loooot of bills will come due, I wager. Unless we are in the really shit timeline and they actually do figure out life extension or mind uploading or something in the near future. Then we get to deal with the boomers forever. That'll be fun.
