To add some credence to #TeamHealth and/or @neger psykolog's Tax theory, there's been a lot of foreshadowing for this mini-arc. Remember, Phil couldn't do the marathon on Tuesday because of personal stuff; on Tuesday, he's noticeably distraught after cancelling them for personal stuff; then, on Wednesday, he said that Tuesday was a bad day for personal reasons.

This "personal reason" has to do with an appointment or scheduled event of some sort. Whatever it is, it's something that he knew about in advance, and depressed him enough to go to his safe space. Stuff like August and even PPP are red herrings: they added fuel to the fire, but ultimately they didn't start it.

He is probably executing his cat out of convenience. Jasper

Phil has no unironic entertainment value and he never will. He's not going to suddenly in his mid 40s learn how to be personable or charismatic or funny or anything like that.

Oh I completely agree. I just found it funny how much more passion he was displaying for hating on others and ruining their lives for huge amounts of money in this fantasy as opposed to what he will continue to do. He is fucking horrible at hating on things even though that is his natural state. No you're right, phil absolutely loves hating on other people and being a toxic, jealous person has been a core component of darksydephil since he first logged onto the internet. The entire time he's been on youtube he has constantly tried to tear down other youtubers. Look at any era of youtube and who the big youtubers were at the time, phil ruthlessly attacked them all- pewdie pie, ijustine, toby turner, ninja, dr disrespect, mr beast, etc. Phil has always been a miserable, jealous bitch going after anyone who was more successful than him.

This one was worse cause if you just follow what happened to him for 3 days it's obvious why he was sad sad.

Look we knew about his bankruptcy before he even said anything, the forclosure, the bank leaks hell even his car repair bill before he even paid it. I'm pretty sure IF khet files for divorce somehow we'll see the papers before he does.

Phil's dream is making a living off "roasting" people like internet bloodsports and similar, but he is too thin skinned for it both IRL and online. So chasing this dream ended creating the spiral of infamy he is now, making it an ironic hell for him.

Why does he have no friends and no hobbies? I know small business owners who do 50-60 hours of work a week (actual work not ranting and raving at a camera for 6 hours a day and then doomscrolling twitter for the rest of the day) and who have families (with human-style children) and they still have time to maintain friendships and at least one hobby.

Unless you're playing at a highly competitive level or you're putting in genuine effort in order to entertain your audience you aren't allowed to call it work.

What Phil does isn't work. it's what most of us do to relax from *actual* work.

I think Ashton wants to create a sort of extended Casino sphere with other streaming personalities. He wanted to bring on Phil as a joke but also as a part of the KC crew like they did with Steve Cambian. Ashton and Andy have been seemingly struggling to stream as often as the fans want and this could be the reason why he wants to bring in others.

I think Ashton is getting frustrated with Phil because Phil doesn't understand this isn't Inside the Actors Studio with James Lipton. Nobody is interested in getting to know the real him and listen to him talk about himself. The deal with collabs is both sides get a bump. Phil brings in viewers for the Casino, and the Casino sends over some paypigs to Phil. Phil hasn't been keeping up his end of the bargain. He has the personality of a gout-ridden toe when he's on KC; he sits there awkwardly the whole time. When they played Blops Zombies he barely spoke to Andy or Ashton and ran away from them in-game like he was playing singleplayer. Ashton wants to prod him to move away from the gaming which has gotten increasingly stale since he got sensitive about TIHYDPs and branch out into general content creation, which means breaking bad habits and trying new things. Instead Phil has been worse than ever with the boring nontent gameplay and the constant Gypsyesque scamming and begging, still playing walking sims and Yakuza games as chat begs him for literally anything else.

Ashton might be reaching his limit and deciding it's better to cut his losses so no more paypig resources are wasted on Phil. It's sort of mental on Phil's part because Ashton is giving him a real opportunity and Phil has said he wants to move away from gaming content and try something else but Phil has been playing A Game About Digging A Hole irl his entire life and he's really good at it and he's not about to stop just because someone dropped down a rope ladder.
