We’ve learned some tragic news – female streamer Ai Mogami has been stabbed to death while livestreaming on the popular Japanese platform Fuwachi.

Mogami (her performing name) was livestreaming near Takadanobaba station in Tokyo around 10 AM Japan time on March 11th when she was stabbed to death by a man, who is now in police custody. Ai was 22 and the man is reportedly said to be in his 40s or 50s.

Some confusion has come about during the incident due to Mogami sharing the same name with a voice actress, and unsubstantiated rumors on the relationship between Ai and the attacker. Japanese news reported on the incident:

東京・高田馬場で20代女性が男に刺され、心肺停止の状態となっています。警視庁は殺人未遂容疑で男を現行犯逮捕し、捜査を進めています。女性は搬送先の病院で死亡が確認されました。事件の詳細や動機は現在調査中です。

Police report that upon arresting the man he said that he had a problem with her and that he did not intend to kill her. While the attack happened Ai’s livestream continued, broadcasting the horrific incident to hundreds of viewers.

Ai suffered multiple stab wounds throughout her body and was found unconscious at the scene. After being rushed to a nearby hospital she was pronounced dead and police are currently investigating the incident.

Friends of Ai and other streamers were shocked to hear the news, saying she was a kind and considerate person. Ai was popular on the streaming platform Fuwachi, attracting a consistent audience with her casual content.

When you set yourself up as a personal celebrity, you are making a deal with life where you angle for fame and wealth while becoming a magnet for psychopaths, like when they put those thumpers out that draw sandworms in Dune. Tragic outcome this time.

No, he specifically loaned her money. This article says he tried taking her to civil court over it.
This deepens the plot. $17k is no trifling sum to loan. The translate function is wonky and I can’t read Nipscript, but it seems like he met her at a restaurant? And loaned her money for rent and her phone and she refused to pay him back.

It could be a hikkimori gone Elliot, but I don’t know. Does the Yakuza have “interest” in the live-streaming egirl scene? Is it even lucrative to leverage that?

Niche Gamer: Japanese livestreamer Ai Mogami’s killer says she owed him money (archive)

The first details from the tragic public stabbing of Japanese livestreamer Ai Mogami have surfaced after initial police reports.

Ai Mogami (real name Airi Sato) was stabbed to death while livestreaming around the Takadanobaba station in Tokyo around 10 AM Japan time on March 11th when a man, now identified as Kenichi Takano, approached her and attacked her without a word. Ai was 22 and Takano is 42.

Shortly after the attack Takano said that he had a problem with her and that he did not intend to kill her. Investigators from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s Investigation Division 1 said that Ai was stabbed over thirty times before going unconscious. She was pronounced dead at a local hospital later.

Tokyo Police have been interrogating Takano and report [archive] that he took a train from his home in Oyama City (Tochigi Prefecture) and watched Ai’s livestream to figure out she was walking around Takadanobaba station, in Shinjuku (Tokyo).

He kept watching her livestream after getting off the train at the station and based on her footage, he identified her by the surroundings and her clothing within ten minutes. It’s believed he used a survival style knife around 5 inches long to tragically stab her to death.

Takano alleged in the police interrogation that he lent her money in excess of 2 million yen (roughly $13,530 USD). Takano’s motive for the killing is that he “felt unbearable about her earning money through livestreaming while she had not repaid the debt.”

Not long after apprehending the suspect, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department raided his home on January 13th and seized a personal computer and statements recording money transfers to Ms. Sato.

Holy kek, Yen has really gone down the toilet
I don't support stabbing people, but if a deranged fan lets you "borrow" this much fucking money, you really should just pay them back. She's lucky that he couldn't figure out a way to kidnap her and have her "pay him back" some other sick way down in his basement, ala Josef Fritzl
Never understood why they always have to pick the murder option instead of good ol fashioned kidnapping.
Just taking women is free.
I'm guessing this would have been on the table if she wasn't streaming, so the sperg instead decided to "send a message".

Yeah you just don't take a skizo and maffiaman's money and keep on going like nothing will happen. At least flee to Serbia. She looked cute, but clearly was a bit of a dummy.

Wouldn't Lebanon be a better place to flee too, since they don't have extradition treaties with Japan? But then again, it may not be a good idea if you were a woman to flee there, compared to being a French-Lebanese automotive company CEO who fled to there in a musical instrument box to avoid the Japanese prison system.
