Antabuse was standard procedure in the navy for people with DUI's and/or PI's. They have to take a dose everyday and it makes one allergic to alcohol. Some people would still drink on it though. They'd turn beet red and have what certainly appeared to be an unpleasant experience to say the least.

IME it was Antabuse or Naltrexone. Antabuse will cause you to vomit profusely if you drink. Naltrexone simply blocks the euphoria feeling in order to disincentivize drinking but isn't supposed to make you sick though it still can.
