I know there are strong legal arguments against what I'm saying, I just feel ethically and spiritually that it's indefensible and I won't make efforts to defend it. Its a new field, I don't know if anyone is equipped to make the types of arguments we have comparatively under 1,000 years of common law. And we're dealing with edge cases as we've decided that possession is a crime, in which typically it would be considered "victimless" but we know that the true costs of developing the material warrants a special case of making it a crime. I was on the edge previously, until @Toolbox here on the Farms https://kiwifarms.st/threads/youtube-commenters.13413/post-20184038 told me how these models are trained with it, and that's what changed my opinion.

I agree with you 99% of the time, it's best to air on the side of not making things we don't want illegal, but in this case I believe there should be special protections of anyone whose images were used in these, even if the derivatives do not appear to reference them from the perspective of the naked eye. Maybe that makes me a poor scholar or lawmaker or judge, but I feel its the right ethically stance.

Gonna be that guy: This isn't actual law yet. It's only passed the texas senate, still has to go through the house/governor. All the celebration/gnashing of teeth is premature, this could still go nowhere.
