This. We've reached the point that throwing an ipad into the dash of a car is less expensive than a few switches dials or gauges, all of which are superior at being used and giving information without taking your eyes off the road.
This is the interior of a Mk4 Volkswagen Golf 97-2003 in Eu. It has 3 dials for hot or cold how hard the heat or ac blows and what position, all easily read by feeling if its in 12 O'clock 6 O'clock and so on. Compare this with a modern VW below

This is a Mk8 Golf 2020-Present, digital gauge cluster, ipad stapled to the dash as a head unit, buttons shoved into the steering wheel. Just the interior alone is a direct downgrade for creature comforts and ease of use, without even going into the mechanical aspect of parts being swapped to plastic vs steel or aluminium like the oill pan or valve covers and if im not mistaken even the thermastat
(very bad idea if you aren't too familiar with working on cars) most people just buy an aftermarket aluminium one after the OEM plastic rots and or cracks.
