To them, even accidental contact wi these is a cardinal, capital sin, hence why blocking is not only very-very strong in BlueSky but also an integral part of BlueSky culture. Every other social media site ran at a loss for over a decade to build market share. Even now we can see how they're struggling with Youtube making some very strange decisions in an attempt to increase revenue. Bluesky will keep up the facade for however long it takes to build market share.
We've also seen how NGOs use social media to influence public opinion. In these cases they use creative bribes to keep the service afloat so long as their agenda is being furthered. Making money isn't the goal. We saw this with Twitter: Once the desired narrative changed advertisers pulled out en masse. Not because they weren't getting value for their ads, but because it was part of a collective action to punish Twitter for no longer furthering the narrative.

What peaked my curiousity is that this seems that they had a go-fund-me for their museum that had a 60k pound donation goal, which they met. Round of applause.
See, they couldn't pay rent because going to a museum to look at pictures of vaginas for free. They rented out a venue that costs apparently 60,000 pounds. Now I couldn't confirm whether this was the case, but I did find a site that shows the neighboring space costs roughly 65,000 pounds a year. So the money might go towards keeping the place in it. Why you wouldn't get a less expensive venue, I don't know.
What's interesting about it is the financial ineptitude. You see they've been at the location for about 2 years now and they seem to not have realized that they would need to actually make an income in order to keep up with a massive rent like this. Admissions are free and donations of 5 pounds per person are only recommended. Even if each person entering donated that amount, it would require about 12000 visits a year just for rent, not including other costs associated with running a business. Based on this gofundme, they ain't getting 12000 visits, and people are certainly only coming in for free given that they're asking for the full 60k. They claim it's because people's rights are in crisis, but that makes no fucking sense.
