Can any Americans tell me how civil court works? I watched the Johnny Depp trial, and a lot of stuff was included from both sides, but that was a personal (ex-wife/ex-husband) relationship, so I guess I can't really base anything for this Pxie case from that.

Depp-Heard trial is a huge outlier and shouldn't be really used as something to base anything about this trial on. The format is fairly similar but because it's Federal and not Virginia state, there will be no cameras and the lawyers won't play to the cameras.

The important piece for US civil court is that "guilty" is just 51%. It is not beyond a reasonable doubt like with criminal stuff.

They jury will be instructed on if it is 51% likely that the specific counts are true, or even more simply that it is more likely true than false, then to find for Pxie.

Her last tweet mentioning the campaign was a week ago and that was probably the second or third time she tweeted the campaign out. While her campaign is going on, she’s doing political mid-posting on twitter. My gut feeling is telling me this isn’t helping her at all with spreading the word on the civil lawsuit. Its value as evidence to increase sentencing is not. Depending when it was made, what was discussed and the timing of events, poor taste jokes might even upgrade charges by establishing pre-meditation. Look up the name Anton Scarsella. He and his friend livestreamed a bunch of "jokes" about how eager they'd be if they got attacked by BLM protestors (referred to as dindus on livestream) and got to be legally in the clear if they exercised their lawful right to self-defense. 2. Defense files a Motion to Dismiss with literally every defense they can possibly come up with
3. Defendant's Answer

Steven skipped #2 and that's usually indicative they don't believe they have any chance of a motion to dismiss.

Step #2 is generally important because if you get hit with a bullshit lawsuit, getting it dismissed at that stage is very cost effective. If you answer, that means there are questions of fact and not of law, which has to go to trial, which first requires discovery, which is expensive time-consuming emotionally draining etc etc.
