You're right. I know that diabetics can (and should) have SOME sugar, but I didn't want to do an tl;dr of my previous post about the diet of a diabetic when we are talking about Chris.
Also, a interesting factoid for those of you who were wondering how people get diabetes at 2 - about 70 percent of type 1 diabetes cases are diagnosed in children under 13, IIRC. And as has been said, yes it's an autoimmune disorder where in this case, it is the pancreas being attacked. My friend (not the guy with kidney failure) also has T1 and was diagnosed at 6, and told me it ran in her family. Funny how the human body works. Out of all the cases of diabetes today, at least in America, only about 5 percent is T1.
As for Chris, here's another fun diabetic factoid. In type 2 diabetes, it should surprise absolutely nobody here that 80 percent of T2 cases diagnosed today are in obese people. With his bad diet and lifestyle, Chris really is a prime candidate for the beetus, and not only that, but the inevitable complications.
IIRC, when Chris talked about his pants-shitting to his doctor, his doctor told him to improve his diet when Chris just wanted to be able to pop a pill. In the case that Chris is pre-diabetic if not outright diabetic, we an probably expect to see him complaining about cloudy vision, cold/numb/tingly/painful hands/feet, constant fatigue (more than usual) excess urination and thirst. Who knows, one day Chris might even make a post begging for someone to donate a kidney.
