That's called A-Logging, and it should be called out more often. Fortunately, it's not much of a problem in this thread.
No you don't understand this retarded woman who is obsessed with a public domain bug is INFURIATING AND NEEDS TO BE ATTACKED. I AM PERSONALLY MAD ABOUT THEM BEING RETARDED SO I WILL DO EVERYTHING I CAN TO DESTROY Her. :jaceknife:

I have CDs from the early 90s that still play just fine. I bet my CD-Rs from the early 2000s would too.
Ironically, from experience with my collection, it seems like later production year discs are possibly more prone; not less. I'm wondering if they started taking shortcuts and cost cutting measures with the industry standard for CD/CD-R. I'm someone who keeps their media stored responsibly and I'm still noticing disc rot in a lot of product from 2008 onwards. None of my mid-to-late 90s discs are experiencing degredation.

This is anecdotal, yes, but considering my sample size exceeds 450 items it's worth mentioning.

I have a bunch of physical media too, I'm curious about this now. How do you tell when it's degraded?

When it starts turning transparent or becoming miscolored, for one. But this had been discovered on the really cheap ones.
Yes if you use cheap Chinesium media you get what you pay for.

I made that mistake exactly once, buying a big 100 disc spindle of DVD-Rs at the Night Market for a laughably cheap price but the laugh was on me. Over half the first ones I tried were unreadable from the get go and so I didn't trust or use any of em. I donated them to my daughter's classroom to use in art projects.

I've never even heard of disc rot until this thread, let alone had it happen. What the hell are you guys doing to your DVDs?
I thought my 2023 Wogglebug DVD was experiencing disc rot, but it turns out it just committed violent self-immolation after realizing the material contained in it.

Joke's on you, I have my WoggleBug movies on digital videocassettes with archival grade metal tape
Pfft; pleb. Call me when you've got them burned onto gold disks, in a sealed compartment filled with nitrogen, and on a trajectory out of the Solar System, currently just beyond the orbit of Saturn.

I'd be willing to rent out the theatre but only to show the real @voiceguy movies; none of this L**an H****man remake BS. Someone else will also have to provide the grilled cheese sandwiches and Sunkist.

Maybe if she took constructive fire-breathing 50' tall Uzi kaiju battle criticism her army of TRUE and HONEST fans would be willing to put something together. How many times can you remake a movie yet not include the thing your biggest fans have been asking for for many years?

I must remind you, Godzilla movie won an Oscar in 2023. Kaiju movies are high culture and yet Cherie insists on making gay romance movies that will always be a niche, always rejected by wider audience.

I still have the Wogglebug movies that Sony created using my scripts, but canceled due to Cherie absolutely ruining the Wogglebug's reputation with her constant anti-gay propaganda. Would anyone be interested in pooling our money to rent out the dine-in AMC to watch them on the big screen for out next monthly get-together in Columbus? Of course, Cherie will not be invited to this one, no matter how much she begs, because she ruined my chance at an Oscar, on top of destroying my family with her blatant disregard for copyright laws.

*yawn*
