Mario party 8 fucking rocks, I will forever be eternally biased to how autisticly good we had it with just motion based controls built in the controller and not having to wear the fucking screen on your head at the same time, you'll never find me not trying to die on the, " we peaked at motion controls for the wii " hill.

Let's also not forget the minigame where you measure mastorbatory prowess.

Mario Party 8 is my favorite game of the series. I just really like the aesthetics and the gimmicks it has compared to previous or latter games, even if the motion controls sometimes suck.

Not only that, it has the peakest board of all time in form of Koopa's Tycoon Town

I remember beating True Crime: New York City.
Story was ass, gameplay was shit, every main mission was stupid as fuck, but shooting, tackling and getting cover was fun as hell.

There was an old shitter of a game called Martian Gothic Unification that released on PSX for 10 bucks. Blatant Resident Evil type game with the premise of 3 people on a mission to find out why Mars Vita base went silent. Puzzles, a few guns, limited saves, mostly low tier voice acting with a couple that were maybe passable. It was probably what you're imaging as far as a RE knock off from 2000 goes but worse puzzles. Music was mostly ambient alongside your footsteps as you ran through places with an occasional spooky gasp. I didn't learn until later it had a PC version as well that has more effort put into the sound design with the ghastly groans and dialogues. Unlike most Resident Evil type games and such you couldn't actually kill the zombies permanently. If you ran through an area enough times or took long enough they were generally going to get back up. Like a precursor to Crimson Heads but without the power up.

Inventory management sucked dick. It was easy to fill with numerous items that did literally nothing but take up space. So you had to dump stuff in random lockers and other spots hoping you wouldn't need it later. At least you could check the computer to see what was where as long as it was inside a storage hatch. There was no shared item box, only a vactube which you had to use to transport up to 4 items at a time between your 3 members. Speaking of which, each person started in a seperate section of the base as you switched between them doing various nonsense to open areas up. On PSX this was done by going to a character selection screen and choosing who to swap to. On PC this was seamless by pressing tab to cycle. This arguably made doing a puzzle or two more annoying on one or the other. In the mean time of course you were trying to leave them in safe areas or otherwise they could get attacked while on standby. It did have a warning system for if someone was in danger which was nice. If they ever got too close to each other you got a game over. Story thing related to the mystery of what happened at this place before the last transmission.

Despite some cryptic puzzle shit and other annoyances, I couldn't help but always like the atmosphere and thought the lore/setting were pretty neat though. Has stuck with me ever since.

Silkroad Online.

The visuals were cool for a 2004 game, PvP was OK. The people I played with were really what kept me playing back then, even met a player that happened to be in my school oddly enough. Small world !
Grind fest because F2P Korean MMO™ . Insane amount of time required to achieve max lv and thus became infested with bots, don't really blame them, I moved to private server as soon as they became available.
Didn't stop the bots but at least you could get there within your lifetime lol.

Xenosaga trilogy. Enjoyed the first game even with the shitty english dub. The second entry was dogshit, but i was glad to be playing in the setting and following characters in the story. 3rd entry was enjoyable and gameplay was better than 2. Overall despite the shitty dub, the weird fucking art decision for character designs and the unnecessary change in gameplay the game kept me interested just enough. Hopefully we get a remaster or a remake although gotta be careful of what i wish for.

Myth II: Soulblighter

I played the shit out of this game when I was a kid. It really was my first introduction to what was essentially single-player RTS without buildings.

I remember that troop movements were kind of clunky and that you had to pay attention not to blow up your own soldiers with your dwarf mortars. Whenever somebody died (especially if they died in an explosion) it was a bloody mess of body parts flying around on the screen. I loved it.

I never actually finished the game because I got stuck at the last level. Which was probably good, considering that the "boss fight" consisted of two NPCs being in a 'dream duel' and you, the player, simply had to protect the good NPC from wave after wave of attacking monsters. Completely unfulfilling, after they built up the bad guy over so many missions.

Also, the whole story was told via scrolling text before and atfter each mission, and sometimes with short animated cartoon scenes.

A very passable arena fighter that gets by on its incredible music, sound effects, and art direction.

The main menu is a movie projected on a drive-in screen! Brilliant!

That said the combat is not terribly deep, certain stages have trouble finding the balance between too big and too small, and certain throwable objects are completely broken. I picked it up and played it with my brother a few years ago, as fun as it is the premise wears thin pretty fast with how shallow the combat is, and once the arena is destroyed it becomes just a fist fight between two characters that might as well play the same.
Fucking based. I'll pull this game up every once and a while, play the fuck out of it, and put it down till next year at least.

But my go to is Brutal Legend. As of right now it's been a long time since I've touched it but I fucking love that game. Still in my top 5 tbh. The vibe is amazing, giving the feeling of hanging out with a touring band while playing this fantasy game with sick ass metal references. I know people don't like the tower defense mechanics and the combat is mid as hell but the style definitely carries of the substance. Also I played that game in my formative years and that game taught me I love goth and alt women. Daddy issues be damned. Also Deviculous is a phenomenal villian in design and voice. And of course the soundtrack is amazing and has so many of the greatest hits of the metal genre. Fantastic game, even more fantastic world, and even more more fantastic soundtrack to go along with everything.4a430f8351fb153b4292a58cd7f23322e3069a13356434b6624b9d9ae8b1d6d8_1.jpg.jpg

the 2008 Turok reboot on the Xbox for me, voice acting is shit, the story is not that good, it pales in comparison to the n64 games and it basically killed the series but damn I felt like a badass killing velociraptors with a knife.

Monster Party on the NES. It's a pretty decent action platformer with a series of quirks about it. The most annoying being the one and only level where you have to head left at the start in order to get all the keys and the level with a glitch where if you get the keys in order then the last one won't appear and you have to die and try it again. But still weirdly a fun game. It's something I would have loved as a kid.

The Haunting: Starring Polterguy. Whadda name. Incredibly unique Genesis title where you play as a ghost and have to scare a family out of a house. The controls are loose and finicky, scaring the NPC's out of the house is sometimes down to just dumb luck, the scares get very repetitive as do the levels, and the final boss is just about impossible not unless you get in a specific spot and hope the boss glitches and gets stuck in place. But still, a great game and one I wanted to steal from the rental store but pussied out. I could never find a store selling it.

For me it's Ecstatica II.
That's the worst example I could imagine. Jesus christ. It's like saying pineapple is really good and getting a pine cone showed up your ass doesn't mean the pine cone is very flawed, it's just jagged, painful and unpleasant unlike eating the pineapple.

Final Fantasy 8 is probably not even in my top 5 Final fantasy games but despite it having awful RPG mechanics and a nonsensical story I still found a lot to enjoy.

Secret of Evermore. Squaresoft USA spin on the Mana series, has some balancing issues especially the alchemy. The OST is less whimsical and more raw tones, and the story isn't that great but I enjoy it. I'd say if someone can actually make a decent balance patch it's a solid game.

Hamsterz Life on the Nintendo DS is a fever dream where you get to play minigames and teach hamsters to speak English and I love that for it
