While it’s not a concord level failure, it definitely looks to be massively underperforming expectations (e.g., atm having lower peak numbers than other subpar titles like DA Veilgaurd). Were ubislop in a better financial position, they could live with breaking even or a small loss/gain but given their continued string of failures this is likely the end of the company as we know it (the most likely scenario being it gets bought out by Tencent). Thats a fair point but until the layoffs happen we really don't know how deep the under-performing is. The game is on gamepass and whatever unislops proprietary horseshit is called so there are multiple layers of obfuscation taking place, and that is to not mention the social media die-hards who will run defense for the game, and the sales pumping theory that is going around that ubisoft is botting their games. And by the point that the layoffs happening, everyone will have moved on, and it will be blamed on ~harassment~ campaigns.

We might seem some effects earlier than normal. Remember, this has been touted as Ubisoft's last chance to keep itself as an independent game company. If it flops, Tencent is going to be able to go ahead with its takeover. They also delayed the game a lot, seemingly trying to fix some of the more outrageous shit, but still seemed to not remove some of the more egregious stuff (that could be removed within reason), and pissed off the Japanese government to the point they spoke out about it on its opening day. I don't know what the timetable of them making a positive ROI is before Tencent starts making moves, but it's probably not that much time, and a story like "Tencent acquires Ubisoft" will resurrect the attention span for this particular game, since it will be pointed at as the one that killed Ubisoft.
