Brianna Wu / John Walker Flynt - "Biggest Victim of Gamergate," Failed Game Developer, Failed Congressional Candidate

I want to know why those pictures weren't posted immediately if it was true.

It this was the case, he would have posted a dozen pictures of his smashed window with Frank I'm the background leading people to wonder if that's just his normal expression or he just walked on broken glass

Wow. In a lot of ways that interview was mostly just a bunch of softball questions, yet John still emerged from it lacking even a shred of credibility or genuine charisma. There were no deep or complicated policy questions about controversial issues. Only basic questions about what makes John a better candidate, actual qualifications, background, and and inquiry as to if John actually lives in the district. For most candidates for office, this should be cakewalk. There is no conceivable way that John should be surprised by any of these questions, and should realistically be prepared for such things. Yet some how though, John still came off as evasive, and in completely over his head. His attacks on Lynch are completely transparent and quite contradictory based on his own purported platform.

It was a soft interview and yet John still got BTFO on two really important issues: his refusal to say anything about actually LIVING in district 8 and the interviewer using his "leopard doesn't change its spots" argument right against him when talking about him being a mailroom monkey for Trent Lott.

EDIT: The interviewer also makes it very clear that no voter is going to care at all about John getting a small loan of a quarter of a million dollars to fail at publishing comics or a game that cost $400,000 to make wherein John "can't remember" his own sales numbers or revenue. So yeah I actually am of the opinion that this interview is not as soft as it seems even though it opens with the usual facsimiled parade of lies.

This shit is gold. I recommend a listen. It's only 13min, and it's a fucking cavalcade of distilled Wuery.

In October 2014, Brianna Wu actually started REEEIng at an interviewer when it became clear she would not be lobbed her expected softball questions and allowed to play her usual lip service about how everyone everywhere was trying to kill her with emails or something:

Oh my god the way he ducks and dodges over "How many games has your company made?" is priceless.

This is the most devastating way to get him to implode, I think: forget digging up all the pre-transitioning stuff, accept Brianna Wu as what she claims to be, then politely demonstrate how even on his own terms John is a total fraud.

Yeah, it's beautiful. When you go around spreading the lie that you are the head of a widely successful games company that makes critically acclaimed gameS, you have to be prepared for people to ask you to name some of these awesome games, but it's like he never expected anyone to actually follow up on the claim. All he could do was sputter out, "Oh, you know, right now we have Rev60, and we also have the special edition (of Rev60), which came out on the PC, but it was also out on many other systems... you know, iOS... iPhone... iPad..."

Really reminded me of this:

Incidentally, I'd also like to see the above happen when someone finally calls him on his "I could go into all sorts of technical jargon" bluff.

At least Jen had a shred of charisma to her.

Christ, this. Brianna is so insufferable, so defensive and petty that Crash Override Network kicked him out, and they had no fewer than two sexual predators on their staff of ~20, one of whom was only given the boot after the criminal charges went public (leaving them with Sarah Nyberg who they continue to defend, one sexual predator). He is an asshole among assholes.

I still don't understand why so many of his interviewers insisted on lobbing softballs at him rather than doing their jobs and doing an entertaining, informative interview like Radio Boston. The obfuscation of his mediocrity by various media outlets to this point is like one of those weird traditions like dogfighting or whaling which is perceived as fucked up by almost everyone but limps on because a few years ago before his excommunication someone said that you can't ask John fair questions because you can't let the #GamerGaters win.

They have to lob softballs or else any actual hard question will make Bribri go into snarling manbeast mode for the rest of the interview and pretty much waste everybody's time with nothing to show for it.

I mean...I'd watch it.

Of course you'd watch it. I'd watch it. The whole fucking reason this site exists is because we're all here to see chimpout gold such as Brianna actually having to think on the fly to answer a question.

Actually, I've yet to hear about this happening, but if True Capitalist Radio is still going as usual...I wonder what would happen if somebody fed Wu soundboards to Ghost to make him :cans::cans::cans::cans::cans::cans::cans:...and then the recording of that subsequently sent to Wu.

The Wu-Ghost Wars would be a milking on a whole new level. Theoretically.

You gotta remember that alot of these interviews are set up by wu, generally they know what questions are being asked, it's a fluff piece. It's 2 years until the election and the American public has the attention span of a goldfish, once the big stations and papers actually care to cover the next senate election, Wu won't be able to dictate the terms of the interviews as easily.

Yes and no. Wu folded when interviewed in person in a place where he had no illusory authority, and the interviewer obviously did her research and had a good idea of how the interview would unfold. She was able to bait Wu into admitting he did not actually live in the district he wanted to represent, had squandered hundreds of thousands on fruitless business ventures, and was incapable of taking personal responsibility for professional failures. I'm sure a lot of this was by virtue of the interviewer being one of the few interviewing Brianna who was more interested in giving a good interview than making him look good and thus having a few years' worth of unspent ammunition, but even then it's not bad for a local radio host running a 13 minute interview.

There's no way the woman who held that interview hasn't seen the lolcow wiki.

Brianna: "Something I've always looked for when we hire people for our company - I love people who don't take the straight and narrow to get to where they want to be. I love people that kind of have those life experiences that take them different places."

Now I know Brianna probably means the term "straight and narrow" to mean "direct", but the actual definition makes this a bit of a Freudian slip:

straight and narrow
n.
The way of proper conduct and moral integrity. Used with the: kept strictly to the straight and narrow.

COULD HAVE FOOLED ME.png

oh really, John? O RLY?

isn't that Daniel Abraham guy one-half of the writers behind The Expanse?

She hasn't said a single word on either climate change or inequality at any of her interviews. Why on earth would anyone get the impression she's a single issue candidate?

Of course articulating policy goals would require actually having policy goals. Wu's just making all this shit up on the fly, launching in to full campaign mode without even the slightest idea of what might be a reasonable platform to run on.
