The problem with Korra being a meathead was that she got Worfed at every turn. The fucking avatar should have ample power to smack down a bitch, but each and every villain in the series kicks the shit out of her pretty much immediately. Aang was working at a disadvantage because an entire nation was set against him and he was just a kid with little to no training in the non-air elements, and seeing him work through that with just his wits and his ragtag gang was extremely satisfying. Korra despite theoretically being much more trained and competent than Aang during his series gets her ass beat by random homeless people on multiple occasions, her gang was not remotely as useful or fun as Aang's, and most seasons depended on a deus ex machina to show up and bail her out at the last minute.
it's kinda what drinker said about tomb raider 2018 where you try so hard to make her sympathetic and a girlfailure that she stops being cool, it's the opposite problem of a mary sue. tho korra definitely had her sueish moments, the romance and the mastering every element and antagonizing the audience is proto-rey

Since there are now two avatars with each one being able to bend half of the elements, are Bryke now incorporating Vaatu into the cycle, or is this a one-time accident due to avatars being twins? If I were honest, I feel that if the showrunners didn't completely botch the implementation of the Yin-Yang dichotomy, the concept of there being two interconnected avatars for each cycle who represented opposing but complementary forces would go really well with the whole theme of bringing balance into the world. But, since the two carpet spirits are supposed to be pure good and pure evil, instead of two necessary forces that equalize each other, having one avatar that's unquestionably good that the viewer should root for by default wouldn't make for a very compelling story, would it? At this point, I'm 95% sure that Bryke will retcon Vaatu into not actually being evil.
...Which could make for a fun plot twist, since the protagonist avatar is described as more subdued than her proactive twin and, therefore, more aligned with the dark element Yin, the main character could unknowingly be the dark avatar all along.

I will become an earthbender some day, just u wait.
Waterbending. If it’s about imagination, I can’t think of much easier to work with than water. First it has three forms we all know like ice, gas and liquid. And liquid and to a lesser extent ice can make almost any shape you need. Ice spear? A water buddy companion? Or a veil of mist. Can be done.

But i also wanted to discuss the combination of elements together. The ATLA universe is more scientific than fantasy the creators described. So it bending is a genetic trait, I think it should be possible to have two elements, but very rare.

I’m reminded of para-elemental planes from dungeons and dragons.

Each bending style has two “ultimate” sub-types? Like blood bending and healing waterbending.

Fire: lightning and light bending. Light is the purest form of fire, being from the sun itself. Lighting is called the “cold-blooded” fire. Perhaps someone pure of heart needs to cast light? Zuko should have been taught that by the dragons who only appeared in one episode because they had to cram season 3 and 4 together because Nickelodeon didn’t know they had lightning in a bottle pun intended. :c yes I’m still mad.

Air is simpler, air-flying for those who have no earthly attachments. Maybe void bending for sucking the air out of someone’s lungs as the taboo or forbidden art.

Earth tho? I don’t know, metal bending can be good or bad.

Ah, finally, lore talking.
So, Guru Pathik is a old man. Did you think Bryke gonna use him again? At least in Korra never appeared and is a funny character.

Well, there was magma bending. And as for fire, the sparky boom man type definitely seems like something that not anyone can do.
just got a sick ass username  somehow wasn't taken
Mopey girl is best girl!

Really found it annoying how in the extra material they broke up Zuko and her and we don't even have any confirmation of who Zuko hitched up with, it could be Suki or some random broad for all we know.

Mai would never do this, I'm literally crying and shaking and pissing my pants right now. I hate when writers give control of a series to literal whos who write garbage just to keep franchises alive.

Also, was no one gonna tell me they casted Mai as some moonface??? What the fuck

Her and Azula ate AAAAALL THE DUMPLINGS!

There was never any confirmation about Suki and Zuko being a thing, but it would double piss me if it ever got confirmed since it also cucks Sokka for no goddamn reason.

But at the end you are right, it's slop that should be ignored.

Don't forget that Ursa was retconned to be forced into a marriage with Ozai (instead of the original lore where they were setup by a matchmaker) and she just straight up abandoned and forgot her children because uwu trauma uwu

At least the comics had good art, but the writer is most definitely a hack. I don't buy Zuko imprisoning all the nobles and politicians being forced to live in newly colonized areas, for the most part, they don't choose to go, they are commanded to by the ruler. Ozai is the only one who should be imprisoned.

And after Mai said to never break up with her again, it's clear the comic writer either didn't watch or straight up ignored show events.

And why would the Kiyoshi Warriors be in the Fire Nation? They got their own crap to do in their homeland.

Oh, I'm very aware. Fantastic way to ruin the biggest pending question from the show.

Zuko's daughter is hers at least so they are together.

Yeah, that was bad. She abandoned her kids to someone who made them cruel. She should have stood up to him better and she should tried to cultivate the light in the children. If it was not for Iroh, Zuko would have gone insane and had it not been for her friends, Azula would have gotten insane faster. She failed both her kids. Her poison should have been used on Ozai. I understand that she was traumatised but she chose to forget her kids. If she allowed her memories to remain, I would have more respect for Ursa.

He is imprisoned.

From my understanding, it was a paid job that gave them money to continue their operations. They had shit to do but they also need money and to improve their reputation with a high profile job.

Imo, the only good thing the comics did was show Zuko being a badass by bending multicolored flames and defeating the rebels. He was like a fire deity. You could see the bad guys second-guessing their choice to support Ozai.
