They really are in a bind. If you ask a liberal what they think of the democrats they’ll lament that they aren’t doing enough. Most I came across were furious that only one of them had a tantrum during the SOTU. In order to survive as a party dems have to moderate themselves and cut out the progressive rot, but if they want to actually appeal to their voters they have to get even crazier. I dunno about that. Trump has done remarkably well at keeping the GOP on the same page, which has been surprising. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that he has the support of John Thune, who is very good at whipping the Senate GOP.
