If removing expensive junk food and soda from the available items you can get with your free food card is enough to cause fat retards to start firebombing buildings and assassinating people, then that is at least in my opinion even more reason to remove them.
Keep in mind that the big manufacturers like Coca-Cola, Hershey, General Foods, and Nabisco have huge lobbies and massive political power. We'll be lucky if RFK Jr. can get them to stop sneaking cancer-causing agents, solvents, and industrial lubricants into our food. They'll be the ones paying for the "Stop Fucking With Our Bread" domestic terrorist attacks of 2028, not George Soros (although Soros will probably throw in a few shekels to help protect his stonks). There will be plenty of newly radicalized useful idiots indulging in unemployed behavior because they're pissed that the government cut off their supply of free tendies and Mountain Dew, and because Tyson is giving them a month's worth of tendies for a 3-hour protest gig.
Remember, Michelle Obama tried to improve just school lunches, not even all food in general, to a healthier program back in 2011, and Conservatives are still bitching about school lunches having carrot sticks and low-fat dressing in them instead of junk food. Switching over to less fat, sugar, and salt, and serving more fresh fruits and vegetables, has been a wildly unpopular plan amongst Conservatives (although imho that's mostly because it was Big Mike's plan). Although it wouldn't surprise me at all if Ralston-Purina and Nabisco had a hand in a lot of the dissent about school lunches even back then.
Politicize people who are too dumb for politics and pit yourself against the Big Grocery Lobby if you want, I don't mind. I just think that RFK's goals are more feasible and less likely to end in disaster for everyone if we don't do that.
I wouldn't mind if they cut off sodas for EBT, because those have no nutritional value whatsoever, and the poors would still have juice, milk, water, and coffee to drink. At least sugary cereals and Little Debbies are made with fake vitamin-enriched flour, but most sodas have NOTHING worthwhile. I just don't think that banning soda from EBT is ever going to happen because Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and National Beverage Co., are too powerful and will pay too many congresspeople to vote against such an effort. It's naive to ignore the massive power and the role that these companies, and by extension, the stock-owning rich, play in these controversies that seem so simple to solve on the surface.
I would wager to say that RFK Jr. will use school lunches, prison food programs, and EBT as a bargaining chip with these massive food corporations, e.g. "Take these half-dozen known poisons out of ALL of your food manufacturing processes, institutional AND commercial, or we will ban your products from all these cakewalk-money-making Federal institutional food programs." He will probably succeed if he does this. If RFK Jr. cuts off junk food from all these programs, he has no leverage over these companies and is sure to fail.
