I encountered this issue about three times in total, first one being around 2 months ago. If you open the network monitor in your browser's developer tools, you should see Youtube trying to reach a weird API and getting some 5** error. I think I fixed this by rotating my VPN box's network settings and purging everything from the browser's cache. The odd thing is that I could still watch Youtube just fine with Revanced and even download videos with yt-dlp, on the same IP address.

Cookies and site data is still kept around by the browser. Use something like the Temporary Containers addon. Every new tab I open, unless I specify otherwise, is a new container that's not sharing anything with the other tabs. The suggestion area on Youtube's index page is, for me at least, always empty in those.

Does anyone have a good fucking plugin/whatever to skip videos that need you to sign in? Sometimes they are age-restricted for no fucking reason, just because of "community guidelines", and there was one which required tampermonkey, but it is broken now.

I have, of course, Enhancer for Youtube, but I cannot find anything there.

Much appreciated!

Unfortunately YouTube now requires age-verified account cookies to be passed to the server for them to serve the [age-restricted] videos now. So, either log in on a burner you have age-verified or suffer.

Noticed a new bug recently on the YT Android app where clicking on a comment's tree of replies just returns a blank black screen.

It doesn't seem to be an issue with censorship or shadowbanning either since the same happens with every reply tree going down the section.

Also not a "Sort by New" shadowban problem because the "Sort by New" comment hack is literally the reason I occasionally pop over to the official app because Brave browser doesn't have the function.

I thought it might have been me just running an old version because I have my apps set to manual update.

But I updated to the latest version and it's still happening.

Exiting the app and restarting it seems to fix it for awhile. But it's happening daily.

Recently I tried browsing Youtube on my old HP Mini netbook from when I was a teenager that has 1gb of RAM and it was literally unusable. The Youtube browsing experience on the thing was never good - even when it was new I had to watch videos in 360p - but it was at least functional at a baseline level that it just isn't now.

(Alex Jones) youtube doesnt want you to know this but using it on opera is advert free!!!!!!

Seriously, vanilla install on win 11, operas ad block on, operas built in vpn on. Just ran through a few formula 1 vids and the worst I got was a glimpse of one frame of an advert before it was automatically skipped.

Opera is Chinese spyware and has been for years.
