Youtube General thread (formerly Youtube Censorship discussion thread)

To be completely honest, I can not fucking wait until this piece of shit site crashes and burns on the level of the Hindenburg. Everything YouTube does has been a pain in the ass for people who do not take being forced to bend backwards for the higher powers lightly. Pretty much all good will that YouTube had has dried up 10x more than a single drop of water in the Sahara desert. The day that normies get fed up with YouTube and say "fuck this" is the day Google gets told, even more so then what they're going through now.

The first step to that is when the lowest-common denominating faggots can no longer make YouTube into a cash cow my leeching off the average retards brain. Really, I hope everyone on YouTube stops making money off of it. That's what will cause the biggest change. I wish that fucking pajeet stinky mongoloid the worst future.

Has anyone else's YT notifications been fucked around with?

I'm getting this stupid "Important" section at the top with two randomly selected videos from channels I follow. What makes YT think they can pick and choose which videos are important to me.

Current year YT makes me pine for the good old days where it was a good old fashioned female CEO running YT into the ground instead of a smelly pajeet. At least female CEOs are genuinely useless, whereas pajeets are wilfully destructive. God help us all if YT (or any other company for that matter) ends up with a female pajeet CEO.

For some reason I got a few ads on youtube just now. Has youtube found a way to actually beat my ad-blocker or did Chrome fuck with it?

Chrome has been rolling out disabling it as part of the manifest v2 bullshit, you may be able to simply re-enable, but it is probably time to migrate to a non-cucked browser.

Man, they really want you to watch the ads, huh ?

Ads like...another shitty mobile zombie game, then comes a new comercial of the same shitty mobile game but there is a youtuber who is totally not a sell out saying that "nuh-huu! it is totally legit. Now watch this easy to fabricate footage of me 'playing' this game and having extremely legit reactions that arent properly timed with the game footage"

Im very sure you all know which ad is that because you probably got it recently one way or the other.

At least TV ads from the 80-90's tried to keep things visually entertaining, youtube ads are soul sucking to even watch.

Digging in, I had an extension that let me custom block images and now it seems to be gone. Weird...

edit: I fixed it. Google execs should get lifetime prison sentences for fucking with people's computers like that.

Youtube decided their bloated fucking website didn't have enough unnecessary code and now adding a stupid fucking color background anytime you hover over a video. Does this do anything to actually improve the function of the site? No. In fact, it reduces the functionality of the site as now there's more stupid horse shit.

Seriously, when your fresh fucking home page sits at a higher RAM usage than an actual video, shit is bloated.

I remember during one of the interviews the Ladybird guy did he said that YouTube is a really complicated site under the hood that “makes heavy use of the Web standard” and I’m convinced that’s intentional to indirectly try to sabotage the site’s functionality on other browsers that aren’t chrome.

Youtube's been fucking with ad detection hard again. I'm getting ads on Brave, so I finally made the move to Grayjay for Dektop and I'm happy with it.

I've had tabs go even past 1 GB RAM for no rhyme or reason. Youtube can't crash and burn soon enough.

It wouldn't surprise me at all. A huge amount of time and code on major platforms is spent obfuscating site functionality, preventing browser extensions like ad blockers and tools like SocialBlade from working. I still have nightmares from trying to maintain custom adblocker filters for Facebook for some of my boomer relatives.
Imagine if they put even 30% of that effort into actually improving their shitty websites

To the point about "paying for premium or watching ads to help musicians" and shit. No, vast majority of royalties either don't go to the artist or go to the streaming platform to host the music, serve the ads and advertise the music/app.
GIGS are how musicians make most of their money and it has always been this way. Don't feel guilty that you downloaded mp4s or use adblocker on spotify/youtube.
Same goes for anything else you watch, if their product is good enough you will buy it directly, not be brain-numbed with ads just to access something. It's a fairly recent development and has no precedent.
The days of someone making videos in their living room and living off them are over. Ads don't even pay anything close to what they used to even if nobody had adblocker. People ignore ads way more than they block them.

Works on my end, altho I haven't updated my Chrome build in years
Update cucks get what they deserve
BTW just use Freetube, I would suggest Invidious but that service looks like it's on its last legs, unfortunately.

It's a shame. My friend's trying to convince me to start a Youtube channel and I wanted to for a long time. But I honestly, sincerely, do not see the fucking point anymore.

I think the worst possible thing is the literal psyop I see being ran at all times. I'll get recommendations for things pertaining to a conversation I had that I never even searched for. They're not even trying to hide the fact that they are openly spying on you.
Tell someone: "Yeah man, I think it'd be cool to move outside the States."
Youtube Suggestion: The Disillusioned Foreigner: WHY JAPAN SUCKS AND YOU SHOULD KILL YOURSELF!
I wish I was joking but this is where we're at now.
It's always an intentionally incendiary clickbait title or shitty grifting drama channel I don't want to watch. Doesn't matter if I use for 90% music. Nope. You're going to have nothing and you will like it.

It's really amazing how shitty every popular website is now.

I'm getting really tired of the Youtube livestreams randomly crashing tabs.

So is this new drm stuff going to kill revanced and smart tube then?
Specifically ReVanced and SmartTube(Next?) no, as they are simply modified clients that do not play the ads through different patches or modifications. It will break clients or front end replacements like FreeTube, Invidious, Newpipe, etc because they all use some method of downloading the video in the background and from what I understand almost every single one is just yt-dlp.

At least for me, these issues happen a lot when I have chat open, and I'm pretty sure there's known memoryleak problems. Using Hyperchat remedies this 99% of the time in my experience.
