What we're seeing is the end phase of a cult of personality. As the old promises fail to come true, the cult leader has to replace them with new promises, each new one more grandiose than the last. With Elon promising to have one million people living on Mars in less than 20 years, we have reached peak lunacy. Anyone who doesn't get out now is in it until the inevitable Jonestown conclusion.

I think people have misunderstood the whole colonising Mars objective. It was never about having one million people on Mars. It was setting an absurd goal to push technological development to its limits.

The technology to colonise Mars isn't going to appear any time soon unless you aim for it.

My issue with it is we're paying a rich retard instead of government funded scientists.

With the scientists we have leverage and oversight, meaning we can put the resources to better use, kick an arse if we need to and put in a process of accountability.

With the rich retard we get neither leverage nor oversight, and shouldn't be surprised the money we give to the retard instead ends up in ketamine and lego sets.

It is fine to be skeptical and distrust government. The sensible thing would be to lobby to put in transparency and auditing processes to keep government accountable. The retarded thing is say fuck government, cut the funding and give the money to someone or something you have no leverage over and expect better (or any) results. In this, Elon, and others, keep proving me right.

Except we're not children. Most of us can see right through all the ridiculous promises that Elon makes. How about we let NASA run our space program again, and let them set out realistic goals, instead of forcing us to listen to the village idiot?

I want to believe this is real

Well he IS objectively making trump and Vance look like morons. Fuck trump already looks cucked to musk, so im SURE these conversations have taken place, although imma go with this being fake until I know otherwise.. I've always thought the idea was to bleed the autistic pay pig and then put him squarely away under the bus. At this rate though, waiting for the OD seems more likely than actual resistance from elected leaders and reps in America.

thunderf00t put out another 30 minute long Musk video where he says the same shit he's been saying for years. I struggle to watch this shit because between the thunderf00t cringe and Elon cringe I have to pause to take a break often enough to make Warski blush.

no i will not link or archive it, it's boring.
We should just throw em both in a pit with a couple shanks and let em solve it like men. More productive and infinitely more entertaining than a thunderfoot vid or elon sperg.

People want to believe that they are using Elon in part of some larger plan, maybe he's the lightning rod designed to take the heat off of Trump, surely they will throw him overboard if he gets unpopular enough.

Sadly, I don't think there is any master plan. I think what happened here is Elon Musk bribed all the Republicans with his money, and now he can do whatever he likes. And what he is doing is running amok, breaking actually functional government watchdog agencies and probably stealing all sorts of secret data. He's been an optics disaster for the pro-austerity crowd that normally advocates for responsibility in government. He's making the Republicans look like idiots. But Republican being the greedy bastards they are, they cannot bear to cut Elon loose and lose all those sweet, sweet campaign donations.

Sometimes the simplest answer really is the correct one.

The skies display his craftsmanship. 1 God's glory is on tour in the skies, God-craft on exhibit across the horizon. 1 The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament showeth his handiwork. 1 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky displays what his hands have made.

Now that would be a mindfuck

This is well put. Trump himself seems like an opportunist and Elon had the cash/lack of a brain to actually do this shit. It does make the administration look bad, but I feel like he's drawing the bulk of the public ire and will continue to do so. I dont think the donos will save him with republicans starting the throw a fit and knowing the conspiracy shit they germinate to overcomplicate things. They will turn on him like piranhas once their seats are in jeopardy as always.

I like the notion of nVidia getting along with GM with autonomous vehicles that Elon promised ~10 years ago. Frankly, I don't know much about Musk's businesses and his business model. But for me, talking shit and throwing unreal schedules for goals without understating the necessities for achieving them is a nut job. I would feel unsure about sending people to Mars without prior research what is actually needed to do that. What technology is required, how to maintain people in rocket flying toward red planet for months. What countermeasures are required to be laid out in case something goes wrong. Maybe I am kinda retarded, but in case I was running a multibilion dollar companies, I would be very restrained from blatantly lying about my plans for coming years without actually showing that I have the tools and research that backs me up.

From my POV Musk is a very good in marketing. He acquire companies on brink of extinction and turn them into gold turd that people buy. However, he does a shitty job as a CEO spending too much time on his X, getting into personal fights that hurts his businesses. But hey, maybe this is just an acustic moron who in mundane circumstances would be isolated or would rot in his mother's basement.

I think the reality is none of them actually have a solid plan beyond remove regulations and make money. Not Trump, not Vance, not Elon, no one involved in this whole thing really has a solid way forward and have no clue how to put into action whatever it is they're seeking to achieve (and I don't think any of them have any basic agreement on what needs to be achieved). It is why it is a shit show, you have so many different personalities all trying to bullshit themselves and everyone else that they know what is going on, all the while tripping over each other because there is no beat to march to nor a unified sense of direction.

Free market libertarians and anarchists are like a dog chasing a car. They haven't the faintest idea of what the car is, how it works, how it runs, how to keep it running, it is all blind faith about how great it is going to be once they catch the car. The problem now is the dogs have finally caught that car and I don't think any of them have a coherent contingency for anything after that. And like dogs they're going to fall into bouts of snarling, barking, fighting and sniffing each other's assholes as there is nothing the dogs can do productively with the car they just caught.

There is a silver lining in this I guess. This window licker is only where he is because of what family he was born into, and the contacts he's been provided. He's not brilliant, he's not a good person on any measure (he fails the wife fucker test) and most things he turns his hands to he fucks up. If someone like that can be the richest guy in the world, anybody with a base level of competency and decency has a chance to do a little better for themselves, and in that, not all is lost.
To me it just shows that the biggest thing keeping most people from being super wealthy is their own conscience.

Outside of the inbred Monarchs of old, Musk has possibly the worst competence-to-wealth ratio of all time in my eyes.

He proves that you really don't need to be a genius or even good at business to become wealthy, but you do need a complete disregard for your fellow human and the utter lack of shame that allows one to continuously tell one bold faced lie after another, even in the face of overwhelming evidence against what you're saying.

Both of these qualities are on full display in his recent "I've never done anything harmful. Only productive things" interview, and it's the same kind of shamelessness that allows him to effortlessly promise the next big thing "by the end of this year" for over a decade.

I think that just like astronauts shouldn't be on elephant-killing levels of ketamines, the guy in charge of the big meta-decisions who insists on meddling with the design (while not understanding any of it) should also not be trapped in a K-hole.

Previously I thought he could be trusted to leave the tech side of it alone but with his contempt for safety and pure autism and increasing arrogance (now that he thinks he is the actual President), I can't see him going too long without something tragic happening.

Guys, just look for libraries, opera halls, hospitals build by American tycoons in 19th and 20th century. I don't want to brag about them but, I think, that despite horrible things they did or were involved in, at very least they had this feeling that they need to give something back to society. Unlike infamous "Gospel of wealth" by Carnegie who deliberately wrote that wealth must be distributed in constructive way, contemporary billionaires don't have this urge to contribute in any tangible way other than creating a foundations for sole purpose of tax evasion. Despite having more abundant resources to predecessors...

I mean, I don't expect from them building libraries or opera houses when culture has changed so drastically, but in country where education is so heavily priced it would be nice if they founded a college or university where people with talent but lacking resources could enroll and contribute in meaningful way rather than flipping burgers in fast food joint.

They could build a website that does something similar. Twitter doesn't count because it's 100% a commercial and political endeavour and it sucks dick.

But yeah you have a really interesting point.

It would be nice to go back to the days when we just had EX-Nazis running the space program.

I think their media obsession is also a big problem. They're constantly chasing big headlines and seem to base a lot of their decisions around whether it will generate positive buzz to satisfy their validation needs and prove themselves right. It's one of the reasons DOGE was destined to fail from the start, Elon kept promising 2 trillion easy in savings, and even when he dropped it to 1 trillion, it's a pretty outrageous number to reach without even understanding how government spending works. So now, instead of taking his time and doing a proper audit/getting people who understand the process, he's frantically trying to make quotes so he has daily headlines about saving billions of dollars and countering all this fraud and stuff to make it seem like he was always in the right.

But obviously, fixing the government isn't something that's so simple you can do it in 2 to 3 months by cutting some contracts and firing some employees. It's like when a teen smugly things they can get the country out of debt by printing more money. If it was that easy and simple, someone else would have thought of it already and we'd be doing it.

I think a lot of people really like the idea of DOGE. Well, okay, the name sucks, but the idea of government oversight and cutting wasteful spending is highly popular. But it needs to be done right, which means a very boring process that takes months of vetting and planning just to get a team who understands everything, then months of pouring over boring data, somewhat more exciting meetings where they present their findings and start coming up with solutions, and then a more exciting phase of actually rolling out plans to reduce spending that will probably not even go into effect until the following year at the earliest. Obviously, that process wouldn't generate nearly enough positive attention, so we get the chainsaw approach instead that provides instant validation with little results.

I've mentioned it before here, but it really feels like Musk is treating the US like his own personal game of Sims. In Sims, you can build a functioning city within a few hours because all the boring stuff is cut out/reduced to something that's resolved in a few button clicks. And if you make a mistake, it's generally whatever and something you can fix in a few minutes time with no real negative consequences. As nice as it would be, that's just not how reality works.

True.
An unpredictable tard and businessman like Elon will snitch and steal the secret info of the government and try to throw the reps under the bus any moment.
Trump has to watch his back if he wants to keep being seen as an authority.
Everything he touches, he corrupts.
Even if Trump doesn't run a business to milk, Elon is pretty much there for the power and data. And when he's done, there will be a long famine/anarchy under inept dem leadership, as nobody will take conservatives serious any more.
Don't underestimate the clumsy tard playing with forks. He is drilled to buy into and take over business. Even tho they hate each other, Elon is wired just like his father.
Like, imagine if Vance or Rubio would suddenly wield a chainsaw and call himself dark gothic MAGA or use his uggo spoiled brat with a nigger name as a meatshield in public. They would cancel him. Being a tard and being rich makes up an excuse for everything, I guess.
Money is power and power is justice.

Tldr nothing ever happens Elon prevents any good change Trump could make and we go back to status quo but worse.
