FIRE is a neutral force that supports both great and horrible things. They will represent you when some libshit teacher punishes your kid for wearing a MAGA hat in public school but also they will represent troons trying to throw drag shows on college campuses.

That’s far better than something like the ACLU (or their copycats like the NYCLU) who exclusively push extreme left wing points of view.
Heavy disagree. A person who poisons you is no ally even if he sometimes poisons your enemies too. We cannot have a functioning society based on this.

We never should have cut home ec

Home ec would benefit everyone. Zoomers complain about not knowing how to do taxes or write a check. Some of my acquaintances are men out of college, they are still eating frozen pizza and ubereats all the time because they have no idea how to cook anything. Learning to make healthy food for yourself is a survival skill.

The thing that really surprises me about Social Security is that the IRS taxes it as income. Basically forced to pay into a program that you're supposed to get back at retirement age then forced to pay again when you finally reach the "finish" line and can't retire.
You aren't getting back what you paid though, that's never been what Social Security is. The money you pay is immediately redistributed to people in the program and the money you will get will come from the people paying in at that moment. Social Security has always been a welfare program. It was sold to the public as a welfare program along with all the other welfare programs created at the same time.

Thank St. Reagan for that, he was the one who signed the legislation making SS payments taxable. Amazing how many people still think he was a great President.
The 1983 change only allowed for taxing 50% of SS benefits if the recipient already had other income exceeding a threshold that made their SS checks irrelevant anyway. SS probably should've been eliminated altogether for those wealthy individuals (the means-testing taboo) but this was the compromise.

Why do you guys never tell the whole story?

The ACLU used to be more neutral too but you can't be neutral in situations like this. Conservatives are cucks and losers, and shitlibs are virulent authoritarians. The more FIRE takes on left wing causes the more they'll be pressured to stop taking on conservative causes. And because conservatives are losers, FIRE will meekly do as they're asked.

Wait so if the start is paying in to a retirement program you dont need, and the extreme was not requiring this federal retirement program for wealthy people since they wont need it, how is keeping that retirement program AND taxing the shit out of the wealthy people that likely wont use it a compromise? Am I misunderstanding something?

Imagine living in a bughive where you don't even have residential mail delivery to your pod. And being ok with it. Horrifying.
It's insane. I've seen 600k+ houses popping in at almost 4k square on an acre where you have to walk to the central mail area like a little bitch.

I didn’t say they’re an ally. Just a neutral force. A libertarian might on principle think the state shouldn’t interfere with gun rights. But that same principle could lead them to say that the state shouldn’t interfere with parents chopping off their kids’ penises. They’re neither an ally or an enemy. They’re just what they are.

In my experience, when libertarians are faced with the dilemma of sticking to their principles with conservatives or taking the easy way out and capitulating to screeching liberals, they almost always take the latter option.

while I love big red, and a good dr.pepper after work. It shouldnt be bought with food stamps, soda is a luxury, not a need.

If Im low on funds and gotta cut back on soda, I just drink water or brew healthier green tea, shameful that so many people shilled out to big corpos!
