YouTube Historians/HistoryTube/PopHistory

Recently came across this channel with a long video on soviet night fighting. I guess the entire channel is Soviet tactics. Guessing it's a real woman, and not a tranny, because the voice doesn't sound like a tranny. Just a sore throat. Never heard of her so I could be off base. Pretty niche channel subject. A fan so far.

No, it's because Youtube began pushing him the algorithm when the Floyd iconoclasm was kicking off. People who had no interest in history tubers were being recommended him.

Sometimes Youtube randomly decides to move heaven and earth to force you to watch a a specific Youtuber you never watched or don't like with a subject you're not interested in. Like one particular video or creator just seems to hang around your feed like herpes. Always in your frontpage. Always appearing in the recommendations. Always autoplaying right after a video you watched no matter the subject. And it will just keep at this for months or years on end. Nothing short of manually hiding it will get rid of it and sometime not even then.

Atun-Shei was one of these people. One day his Lost Cause videos with his goofy cosplay popped up on my frontpage for no discernably obvious reason and then began following me around everywhere for years. To the point where I just assumed he was some weirdo who specialized in doing anti-Confederate apologetics.

I'm really curious to know what goes into the voodoo of the Youtube algorithm. Because it certainly doesn't seem to be interest or quality. Its kind of scary how much power the anonymous middle management bureaucrats at Google have with their monopoly over online long form videos able to jumpstart or crush trends at will and shape the thoughts of millions across the world with few realizing.

He made uber-high effort videos that were kinda boring. There was simply not much interest in knowing about the movements of the 6th company of the 10th division at the battle of Stalingrad. The fact of the matter is that people really could not care less about details like that unless personal stories or drama are attached to it.

Then he switched to political drama where his fringe Ayn Rand politics clashed with normal people, progressives/leftists and a large chunk of his far-right audience. Normals got confused by his ramblings, progressives ignored his arguments & just framed him as a racist for going against the message, and racists lost their love for him as he himself refused to be racist.

TIK just keeps taking his channel in strange directions.

Also because the videos that got him popular were all straw-manning the Confederacy and that is one of the lowest of the low-hanging fruit that redditfags gobble up.
Semi-tangent, but with Trump pushing tariffs hard, I’ve been seeing a lot of more “current thing” YouTubers criticize tariffs as a way to get back at Orange Man. It got me thinking that the antebellum southerners (and eventual confederates) were also against tariffs while the Northerners were extremely pro-tariff (tariffs being one of the issues leading to the civil war, in addition to slavery and expansionism). I kinda want to these people twist themselves into a pretzel when they learn slave-holders also hated tariffs…

Well the whole "brown illegal people need to stay to pick crops for pennies on the dollar" argument they make sounds a lot like the Confederacy and the reason to keep slaves.

Certain progressives label all "states rights" as bigotry because of civil rights. Nevermind that States Rights were used by the North during the 1850s to fight acts like the Fugitive Slave Law.

I don't believe a real female woman does autistic doctrinal and operational videos. Until I see the axe wound and a genetic test I will bet it's a troon and avoid it like the plague.

I for one choose to believe it because the idea of an autistic girl ranting about Soviet military doctrine is so fucking funny. Video was pretty good too.

These people are just flip-floppers propagandized to hate the current thing unlike Antebellum Southerners and Northerners who, without a mainstream media in the early 19th century to feed them their opinions, relied on their observations of the world around them in their daily lives to understood how society worked and therefore pursued polices which aligned with their interests which ultimately made sense for the places and times they lived in (This idea is so scary/taboo to these flip-floppers because they don't want to think about how similar they are to those bad people they learned about in school since they, like those bad people, use their experiences in the world as justifications for their interests).

While both Plantation (Southerner) and Industrial (Northern) Economies relied on cheap labor (Slavery and Immigration respectively), they differed in regard to trade as the former relied on Free Trade while the latter relied on Protectionism in order to grow, hence the conflict between North and South over the tariff, the primary source of revenue and large source of power for the Federal Government over the states.

People were listening to sermons and reading books, newspapers & pamphlets back then.

This is true too.

I think the point I was trying to reach was that in the last hundred years or so, when a majority of the population was able to engage with media (which also greatly expanded in that same time) due to being literate and/or having enough free-time to consume a lot of it, real life experience stopped being the main source for many people in how one thought of society and media has taken its place, resulting in the chaos of modern times as too many people believe (and go crazy over) words or images on paper or on the screen (which can be objectively wrong) rather than the reality they are actively observing in their daily lives (which is objectively correct since, although we are not omnipotent, we as people understand that actions done by people in the past led to the conditions of the present and we can use our knowledge of these past actions to inform us of what actions we should take in the future).

In the nineteenth century, most people did not live sedentary lives like a majority of Americans today, where media commonly becomes the primary means by which one learns about the world due to how easy it is to engage with. Back then, people simply spent their lives working in the fields or assembling widgets in the factories and used those experiences, alongside facts from church or pamphlets, to learn about the world they lived in. I think the latter is far more healthy for society due to how it essentially ensured that your life was connected to your thoughts as without that connection, both one's life and mind deteriorate spectacularly (A repeated phenomenon recorded hundreds of times on this very website).

Sorry for sperging, but I felt that I had to articulate myself.

This is gay as hell. Just straight up faggy. "Guys, it's soooo hard making videos for a living! You don't understand what I have to go through! Literally nobody in the history of man has ever suffered as I do just to entertain youuuuuuu!"

Sucking cock would be less gay than this reddit-tier nonsense. I'm surprised he didn't throw in something about self care and the election.
