Yeah, the context and the curtness of things like this, especially given that he's not just fairweather pussyfooting around the issue and taking accountability despite having already done so makes M2K read as one of the most sincere people in the room by far, and it's really sad to watch someone as emotionally unguarded as him grieve.

Wes, another figure who's been in the community for a long time, and who's been working for a while to try to help Hax recover his reputation by hosting a local tournament with him, is also taking it pretty hard.

You can really see the rift between people who were sincerely trying to help him and these scumfucks who are sharing performative crocodile tears by how much personal accountability they take in his death rather than these room-temperature "he was one of the players to ever do it"-ass takes.

On the upswing, if you check other top players' tweets, there's quite a lot of backlash and people up in arms about the inaction that led to this, such as Zain, who notably bowed out on a chance to advocate for Hax$ on a stream shortly after Technicals released his video:

The most shameful thing about all this is that top players were clearly all afraid to speak up about the issue for fear of being reprimanded, which really just goes to show how much implicit power these dipshit TOs are assumed to hold within the community - it really is an absolute cabal run and manned by cowards, but despite that, top players are sort of a protected class - any single one of them could have spoken up about the issue at any time, and in the worst case, the community needs them a lot more than they need these shithead TOs, so change could've been made over night.

If the community is tyrannical, there's no reason they couldn't have just started a new organization staffed by new people, but there's such an implicit morality tied into people organizing video game events these days that it's assumed that the only people who *would* go against the wishes of the ruling class are doing so because they're hateful bigots and child molesters.

Fuck this community. I love the game but I cannot fucking stand the people.

Just wanna toss this in there while I'm still thinking about the topic - even if evidence.zip 2 was pretty schizo-y, those are the extremes that years of inhabiting constant paranoia with no ability to speak out or check yourself with anyone (as would be the case in a situation where you're afraid to be unpersonned by a backstabbing community) would drive you to, and crucially, what those stupid fucks don't seem to realize is that logical argumentation isn't a game of "score".

That is, one bad allegation doesn't "cancel out" one good allegation. The way this was handled never sat right with me. Of course, I wanted Hax to be unbanned. But even if they weren’t willing to do that, it seemed to me the least they could do was provide some clarity on the nature of his ban. When somebody breaks the law, you don’t just toss them in prison with some ambiguous sentence that maybe might be endless. If they told Hax that his ban was permanent from the onset, then maybe there would have been a chance for him to accept that and move on and find some kind of peace. Anything would have been better than the ridiculous runaround they gave him for literal years.

I’m not sure I even regard the TOs as evil or anything like that. I think they are just irresponsible pussies who are clearly unfit for their positions of power and the responsibility that comes with that.

I mentioned this set the other day. Sorry, not related to drama or anything, but a super fun set with young Hax, and quite possibly my favorite in the history of the game. It demonstrates everything I ever thought was sick about it, it's during a time where you still had rowdy crowds that weren't smelly trannies, and two dope characters (the ledge interaction at 5 minutes still gets me jumping out of my seat; and not a retarded ad read in sight).

Dammnnnnn, the way the set ends too at 10:50 with the below the stage brawl. Yeah, that set is great, Abate is awesome. The commentators too, left dude all zoned out asking for the wifi, then comes back in with "Yeah, yeah, exactly, I wasn't listening to anything you said." Good times. This is probably already after people stopped talking about raping each other.
