The minute I saw that post, I got pissed about it especially since that confirms even more that it was a horrible idea experimenting with those goo creatures like say whatever you want about the Forerunners from Halo or any other species that might have been going through similar stuff but at least they had a plan that might have a some chances of succeeding if they maybe started it early but that turning humans into furry plan was never going to succeed if you can't even really counter them besides using Nukes.
Again, had some difficulties understanding this, but I get what you're saying.
From what I've seen and read on the lore, there's
definitely more shit going on behind the scenes than what the game says. The whole backstory was just too conveniently perfect in the furries' favor; the group and research that had a reliable method of keeping someone's mind intact from the transformation all conveniently got destroyed/went missing, for starters. The theory that the scientists were responsible for the whole situation getting out of hand in the first place is basically confirmed already; the lore confirms that a rather large chunk of them spent more time playing with the admittedly well-intentioned dark latex rather than focusing on the cure. Plus, they also created the light latex monsters... and given how the game explicitly mentions that they learn via mimicry, and how... sexual... many of the "transfurmatons" are, it doesn't portray a decent picture.
Frankly, it indicates the scientists intentionally caused the apocalypse for whatever reason. Likely misanthrope shit, knowing the overall fandom; again, it's not unheard of for furries to portray themselves as the "world's most brilliant scientists" or whatever that fuck over everyone for selfish reasons.
Hell, that post alone makes me suspect that there is a theme with Changed and especially the creatures where, from the game's escapism Lense they look cute, but turning that off or looking at them in real life they actually would be terrifying and Dragonsnow might have made them a lot more cute since if he made them look scary the game might not get as much attention as he wants so it's easier to make the monsters look cute, so it brings in a lot more fans than if you made them look like the mold creatures from RE7.
As I've said, it's groomer shit; the monsters look cute to lure in kids, so Dragonsnow and co. can indoctrinate them into furfaggotry.
I mean with the insult towards "The indomitable human spirit" you can tell he's biased as fuck.
Electricity was confirmed to work against light and was also confirmed to be lethally effective. You could probably prevent yourself from being turned with this stuff. The borg adaptation thing afaik is total bullshit he just spun up like some playground roleplay shit.
The issue is actually getting a reliable source of electricity; the man-portable stun guns worked decently enough, but you'd want something with a bit more kick for the whole horde. Also, you need to find a good place to get it; a hydro-electric dam, maybe?
And bullets should work against dark, you just need to hit the mask and put a hole in it (This will crack it) and they're dead. Hit anything else and it won't be effective. An automatic shotgun might be the best for this as it's more foolproof.
That is canon, by the way; it's confirmed in-universe that the dark latex monsters can get killed even with lesser force. "Dr. K" is capable of overpowering and outright killing Puro despite the latter being bigger and having the advantage, and the game indicates that the only reason why the Core Queen and the Wendigo are still around are because humanity didn't get the chance to waste them before the apocalypse.
Hell, the teenage Colin takes on the Wendigo in-game and wins.
Making an anti-changed COOM-slayer is just a matter of getting enough potent electrical weapons and defenses and a lot of lead. And perhaps a suicide bomb (incendiary?) combined with lethal self-electrocution for worst case scenarios, to utterly destroy the body and the memories (vital intel) contained in its brain before the enemy can seize it.
The fact that people are having to actually speculate on the monster weaknesses just shows how bad this setting is. I'll sperg a bit more on this later.
(Against enemies like this, it's important to deny them more bodies) Protection against gas attacks will also be vitally important, as well as ways to deal with syringe turrets. (isn't it interesting how the lab has all that? almost like they were planning on weaponizing it to do some ethnic cleansing of humanity for dragonsnow's human extinction fetish.)
That's the biggest piece of evidence condemning the scientists, really; the scientists playing with the dark latexes could be excused to some extent, and the white latex monsters could be justified as the result of a failed experiment, but the MASSIVE number of chemical weapons has zero excuse.
Robots might also be effective. There seems to be an implication that they CANNOT be assimilated or parasitized due to having no biology. It would be wise to have as much communication back with the refuge as possible, with things like body cam video feeds and the like and remote detonation systems for the bombs on compromised troops. An improvised relay station may have to be set up, probably at a safe enough distance from the lab.
I think some of the people on the Discord agreed with this, actually; I remember hearing some discourse on possible enemies or weaknesses of the latex, and a couple of them all agreed that robots wouldn't be vulnerable to the monsters.
And remember, no matter what, even if you get the (real) cure or enough intel to finish it yourself, the lab must be nuked. There's too much apocalypse-level biohazardous shit in there to ever properly clean out. And there's no way that Dr K can be allowed to walk free after it either, even if you have to contain him in some SCP-like facility just to secure his compliance while avoiding the potential of him infecting others. (Karma after all the inhumane shit he's done to others). There you go, humanity will now rise again.
Fully agree with this. Hell, you can't even confirm that "Dr. K" is even a doctor; there's just too much evidence against him, ranging from his age, the fact that latex monsters take the memories of people they've assimilated, his behavior throughout the entire game, his supposed "cure", his refusal to even explain anything to Colin until Puro beats the supposed doctor unconscious...
while looking through the sub reddit, I found this old, but interesting thing.

I'd post the actual reaction image, but the "Parsing Response" keeps failing.
