Hey, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Using a new account since my main one for KF I'd prefer to keep WELL away from his work but. Well, On Sunday my dad @Gehenna passed away. He had been having heart issues for a while and he took a bad turn over the weekend. he had, rather playfully, mentioned the "Nutters and secret geniuses" in the thread and had fondly mentioned a few of you guys by username. So I thought to tell you all who held a special place in his jaded heart.
i hope he’s sneeding hard in heaven rn

The point of that story was that Alexander led by example, and would not accept what his men could not have. He's purported to have said "It is of no use for one to drink when many thirst", during his Persian campaign.
On the flipside the thing that likely caused his death was dragging his countrymen on to ever more campaigns despite their pleas to return home and styling himself as a new Eastern ruler abandoning his Greco-Macedonian roots.

Alexander became arrogant and wanted to rule everyone but he seemed to of forgotten in his desire to be a god that the army that gave him his glory was Macedonian, not Persian.

This whole hullabaloo over the "leaked" war chats reminds me of the Vietnam War where the Viet Cong was able to piece together US attack plans based on bar visits, brothel encounters, chitchat, and other sources.

That being said, the Houthis don't have the capabilities to shoot down our aircraft. The time of said strikes can be concerning but that's any half competent intel agency can tell you what is going to be hit and even give you a rough timeframe.

On a scale of intelligence fuck ups:

1 being the pizza orders revealing military strikes and 10 being Robert Hassen / the leak of the H-bomb to Soviets, this is a 4 at most...but reasonably a 3.

They're having a DOGE hearing about PBS and NPR right now.

ETA: Now they're shifting to Caroline Leavitt, she'll be addressing the Signal chat situation
PBS? *gasp* What will we do without shitty pbs red dwarf and mr bean marathons with hours of trying to get people to pledge absurd amounts of money for poor quality tshirts and signed pictures

So much for public broadcasting being made possible by viewers like you then huh. Perhaps they should go back to doing this and getting pledges by offering signed trump and musk tshirts, license plate frames and autographed posters. I mean really, for all the screeching twitter loons do about hating musk do you really think they wouldn't pay obscene amounts of money for a blue checkmark twitter tshirt to lord over everybody on twitter? The left would buy trump and musk merch just to burn it in videos

Beyond all that, if you were around at the time, the hype for BS Infinite was off the charts. It was an endless parade of puff pieces like "The Citizen Kane of Video Games", "Video Games Are Finally Art", and "The Deep, Resonant Message of Bioshock Infinite". It was massively hyped up to be The Thing, and for a while, dominated game journalism.

What's telling is that nobody remembers it anymore. People bringing it up ITT just reminded me of it, but before that, I hadn't thought of the game in several years. It has no lasting fanbase, not even anyone still bringing it up as some profound thing. It is probably the peak of the Soy Era, because all the soybeard guys were all over it.

Of course Bioshock Infinite was forgettable. The initial pitch was you deciding who gets to be president of Sky America using nothing but your gun, sky jousting kills, and Vigors, aka. booze-fueled superpowers. They even said the Vigors were limited by the bottle, meaning that you literally needed to drink responsibly in order to have your nuke ready. When Elisabeth was introduced, she was supposed to be the sidekick that kept you on task, while giving you some support via awesome environmental combos to go with your whiskey magic.

Instead of an annoying waypoint arrow, you followed a pretty woman with support powers that made you more awesome while you fought with guns, explosives, sky-jousting, and copious amounts of magic alcohol. The pitch was the most American thing to ever exist in the gaming industry and we got something so inferior it wasn’t worth remembering.

I genuinely feel like that gif of Walter White falling over right now.

There aren't enough posters like Gehenna. He will truly be missed here... although I'm sure that his legacy IRL extends much farther than a forum for retarded New Zealand agriculture enthusiasts. His archaic way of emphasizing words in a sentence won't be forgotten.

RIP king.

But yeah, those drives were worse than a megachurch.

Eh, if you don't pay PBS, what's the worst thing that can happen?

This is disappointing and kind of unsettling to witness. Cheong and Daugherty show up often as sources in this thread. Troubling that they can be so easily compromised. Total journo death.

Where do you all get your news? Feels like nowhere is safe. At least in USPG you can get a feel for the people behind the posts.
Are you even aware of who Ian Miles Cheong is? the man was born compromised. Under no circumstance should the right have ever allowed him any clout.
