Parody account, but the fact this got 400+ likes and caused a lot of reee'ing shows there's hope. Somewhat.

I don’t know if it’s still open, but I went to the Puente Hills Mall location on a random Saturday before COVID and it was surprisingly normal. Wouldn’t catch me dead in NYC. A few years back, I visited the Grapevine Mills Mall location in Texas since I was nearby for a work convention and there were troons and bad cosplayers galore.
Puente Hills has zero troons playing DDR, Pump, or Dancerush. As far as I've seen at least. Burbank was almost completely dead when I went on a random Friday night while I was in the area. I've got a feeling the troons are all at the Main Place Mall in Orange County

So apparently, this is a thing... like official Konami-supplied thing:
  • Some songs don't even play the music, so what's the fucking point?
  • Classic Dynamtie Rave uses the X/Remade version of the song.
It's sorta neat but it's not worth the $400 and all that space on my desk. I'd be more interested if it was like hand-sized and just played demos of all the songs. I don't want to play DDR on a smaller screen with a worse controller

That dijon39 person ran their own Round1 impersonation account and sells t-shirts such as "I got finger blasted at a round1 bathroom" or something along those lines, it's just yet another twitter gimmick account war.

It’s always muh racism that gets these dorks fired up. I cannot tell you how many times in my lifetime where I’ve witnessed one of these dorks bring their entirely worldly possessions with them in a backpack to the arcade, sit it down next to the DDR machine, and willingly watch some black or hispanic kid run off with it.

They care about their arcade data more than they do themselves.

It's like a monkey's paw.

Konami is finally selling a direct-to-consumer Arcade Machine with pads. Except it's some bullshit small scale machine that's complete garbage but still costs $350 that you almost certainly will never be able to buy in America.

>At the onset of the pandemic, Chike got laid off from his tech job. He describes it as a blessing in disguise. “I was, like, I get to quit and have severance at the same time — it was almost a win-win, ‘cause I was already a little bit checked out,” he said.
Imagine thinking getting laid off from your job is a GOOD thing all because you want to play more of the dance game. I'd expect that kind of logic from a 10 year old, but not from a grown-ass adult.

That was the one thing that truly boggled my mind once I learned about it around the indo VPN cab drama. The fact that he just...simply never bothered to find another job after he got laid off. (rrat is that he got by on crypto and his endorsements iirc but I could be wrong)

Like why? You're in tech ffs, in the Silicon Valley area of all places! The job market was on fire at the time! And now after throwing some 20 grand just to step on arrows, the market is shit and he's been more or less blacklisted by konmai. :lossmanjack:

It's really sad because DDR as an e-sport is arguably the worst e-sport - quite literally the biggest barrier to entry humanly possible - a $400 controller (to start with) and a physical requirement and virtually 0 tournament scene.

If Chris4Lyfe isn't/wasn't fully pro (aka still had a day job) - then quite literally no one is. It's a pro scene with literally 0 pros.

Another barrier is having to be in Japan, because konmai hates the west. Though the JP e-sport "pros" know their BPL pay from them is shit (110,000 yen/~$777 USD per season) and still have to balance day jobs.

Reminds me when that tranny RGC artist Synthion got harassed by black people awhile back while playing SDVX at a R1 and when it went viral on Twitter everyone was doing their gosh darndest trying to say "normie thugs bad" while NOT mentioning race.

Isn’t Chris rich off of cryptocurrency? I’ve heard multiple times that he doesn’t need his job and that he and several others cashed out a fair sum of bitcoin.

So Taiko is on steam now anyone else picked it up? Runs basically the same as switch/xbox versions but they've moved some of the base game songs on to the sub pass.
