Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

I like Resident Evil 6, it's so stupid, and completely over the top, and absolutely none of the gameplay systems work well, and the dialogue is bad, and the plot is retarded.

It's slopkino, the Battlefield Earth of horror games, my cousin and I grab some beers and play it at least once a year.

this is the major issue in the industry, tinfoil hat time but I feel as if Publishers encourage shit like eSports because they are trying to make you miserable on purpose by encouraging this Tryhard bullshit,
It's not tinfoil hat. If they pit niggercattle against the best, the niggercattle will buy the best skins and guns for FOMO and status among their social group that they play with.
Modern multiplayer has been through more psychological propaganda than Goebbels could have ever dreamed of.

That was a game I played when me and my wife had a newborn and didn’t go anywhere on Christmas day. Both of us sleep deprived and laughing our asses off at how ridiculous the game was.

Chrono Cross was better than the psone era Final Fantasy games.

As a kid I was pissed I wasn't playing Chrono and all my fav pals from Chrono Trigger but I still love the art style and music. I should replay it. The later half always felt a bit head up its own ass though. That might have been dumb kid brain though.

While Wind Waker definitely could've used at least 1 more dungeon I don't get why people decide that some gameplay has less value than others. Wind Waker at it's core is a game about adventure and exploration and the Triforce hunt is that exemplified. Are people in such a rush to finish a game they forget the point of the game is to play it?
On Zelda it always bugs me how great they say Link's Awakening is when it falls apart in the second half. First half is getting those new items that allow you to access more and more of the world map while trying to figure out what exactly is going on with Koholint Island, second half it just tells you straight up and the items have no purpose but to let you access the dungeon further. Even without the color tunics (which break the game), the boss dungeon is annoying (hope you have a pen and paper handy) and the boss itself is really easy.

I like Ashley Graham's redesign in the Resident Evil 4 remake. Yes it would be nice if she didn't have to wear those stupid spats under her skirt like every female character is required to these days but her hairstyle is less stupid looking and the new model doesn't have the insanely huge cartoon jug ears the original does.

The Fate series should back to being porn games. It's ironic that they only started having the women with H-cup breasts start showing up after they cleaned up and went all PG-13.
based

Honestly, I just think the original story makes way more sense than getting eaten by your girlfriend's inner dragon, having your girlfriend perform magical surgery on you she acts like was sex, and my absolute favorite of your girlfriend sucking blood from your finger in the most awkward, retarded way possible.

Or, what they did in Hollow Ataraxia: have the bestest boy to ever not really exist forcibly blood neck succ a nun who has still explicitly said she's been violated by demons.
i remember some randos on youtube playing through the part and being so confused while everyone in the comments was wondering how they managed to make it so much more awkward

that entire element of him being a destructive being who can only express his love through vile acts is lost

Congratulations, Nasu. You somehow managed to make sex feel vital for the plot. I applaud your ability, or inability in this case, I guess.

This is not true.

The Story and Characters are really weak..and the Elemental system is..kind of awful any time it actually matters (Darion's fight and the Time Devourer)

Gatekeeping is important not just because of leftists but because of the general normalfaggotry who are extremely insufferable and cant figure out basic mechanics of a video game, I see this a lot on Reddit but especially in communities with things like Elden Ring where they are asking the most basic questions that can easily be googled or figured out within 2 minutes of booting the game, these commoners dont add anything to the community and are utterly worthless people

Permanent missables are bad game design.

It creates the desire to look up stuff to make sure you don't miss it, and came from an era where they needed to sell strategy guides.
The amount of times I want to scream this to the heavens, even more so when they tie it to an achievement or make it a requirement for 100%. Having to double, triple and quadruple check guides every single time I have my character take all of 2 steps is not fun, at fucking all.

Thread Tax: I don't think this is quite a "unpopular" opinion, more like stating the obvious. Half Life 3 will be a 7/10 and will only be remembered for taking 20 years to come out and not living up to the hype. Theres also nothing HL3 can do to be some massive technical marvel that "helps move the industry forward" like the previous two. Unless Gabe has Sword Art Online levels of VR rigs that hook into your fucking brain, and hes keeping them hidden till HL3 launches, theres literally nothing to show off. Its all been done before, and probably better.

Now the unpopular opinion.
HL 1 and 2 aren't even that impressive of games outside of their technical achievements at the time. "But muh dynamic story telling!" I care about gameplay first and foremost, HL 1 and 2 are pretty basic FPS games with a unique weapon here and there and some physics puzzles, thats it. If you care so much about "story", go read a fuckin' book and stop letting it hamper my gameplay experience. Having to stop to watch a cutscene play out is still a waste of my fucking time, the matter that I can move around during it doesn't change that fact.

Hate to tell you, those would make for some shitty games.

My Biggest Gripe about "Game Isekei" is that I don't think a single one actually functions like an actually good MMO.

I somewhat disagree.

If the game came out locked at 1080p max res, with a max 60fps locked, but had the best AI, best destruction, best particle physics, best gunplay/gun variety and ran on a PS4PRO level PC, then it would move the industry forward, just not in a way that the industry want.

I can actually agree to this, but given Valve's more recent outings mostly being "alright to above average", I simply don't see something like this happening.

As the industry currently stands in comparison to when HL 1 and 2 came out, theres no real major technical advance or anything that will ever allow HL3 to live up to its predecessors barring something Valve managed to keep 100% under the table for the past decade. The hype has gone on too long and there's simply not enough "woo factor" they can pull out of their sleeve in this day and age. It will sell well, and it will likely be a very well recieved game, but I don't see it ever having the same legacy nor do I have faith in Valve to pull out game changing banger after banger the same way they used to anymore. I would absolutely love to see them do this, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it.
