What the fuck kind of drugs are sonic fans on these days.

That idea sounds nice and all, I guess... Until they try to involve kids, as always.
In other news, at long last, we have final, absolute confirmation of a NEW human character in Sonic! In the Tailstube videos. She should appear in the next game, and it confirms for sure that Sonic Unleashed's world is what the world of Sonic is... Which IDW didn't get the memo with the distinct lack of humans so far.

Will she be a new villain so that for once Eggman doesn't do everything himself? We can only hope.
Also, I like how in Shadow Generations, in the inevitable fight against Sanic, they don't even pretend to give you a fighting chance, making Shadow randomly lose due to cutscene power, lest you hurt Sonic and break the mandates.

I feel like at this point it's basically impossible for Sega to establish a consistent setting for Sonic without pissing off at least one autistic subsection of the fanbase.
They should retcon it one last time in order to establish basic things that have been missing from the start, such as the names for Sonic's species, when they did appear compared to humanity, what GUN does besides being Egmman's punching bag, etc.

I will never get over how Sega completely refused to use what is the closest thing we will see to a proper military in Sonic in a game that's about fighting a war to retake an entire planet.

Instead they get completely wiped out off screen, except as it turns out they got better actually. Don't question it.

Sure, it might be more spectacle than actual good gameplay, but damn, i love this part.
For better or worse, Sonic '06 felt like the culmination of the "Adventure-style" gameplay - no boost, unified physics between "fast" and "slow" sections i.e. no breaking up the fast parts with 2D sections, combos etc.

That's what Forces meant to be with the Resistance and your OC character... And then they quickly backpedal, going as far as to forget the humans from Sonic Unleashed.

We have Sonic Adventure 3 at home:
It was supposed to be that, funnily enough.

Honestly Tailstube has about the most coherent worldbuilding for the series at the moment.
Only if they use whatever is shown here in future games, rather than being summaries, so it all hinges on the next mainline game. The IDW Comics I read somewhere that Sagnolia is shown at some point, but even then, no humies so far for some reason. That pink lady is asking for "SOURCE, HURR!" like a soyjack to Tails all the time, but... Eggman's hijinks are anything but subtle, such as when an entire city was flooded, or when the world was split into pieces. Alas, either due to plot-holes, poor writing, an attempt of making comedy above everything else or the lady hiding something, the last part is not mentioned.

06's gameplay as nothing like the adventure style games, though there was a lightspeed dash and a ton of adventure 1 "rememba tha thing?" callbacks at the start of the game.

In other news...
I already brought this up in another thread but famous/infamous chinagame GENSHIN IMPACT added a character that's supposed to be some kinda luchadore bull woman but her gameplay is just sonic. This has spawned videos like this one.
I just realized this might be an esoteric lolcow reference joke given she's electro powered and has cow horns and helps her family run a fruit orchard... Oh my fucking god.

06's gameplay as nothing like the adventure style games,
Yes it is? To reiterate:
- unified physics between "fast" sections and "slow" sections
- rail grinds
- searching for things as Knuckles and Rouge
- lightspeed dash (as you said)
- combo system that grades you with words like RADICAL
- boost pads

Silver's gameplay is vastly different, and the game adds things like Mach Speed and vehicles This is why I said "culmination," because it feels like a continuation of the Adventure games. Despite Generations lumping it in with Unleashed and Colors, it bears a much closer resemblance to the games that came before it than the ones that came after it.

Can you explain why you think they're nothing alike?

There's surface level stuff like this that on paper is the same, but the actual gameplay on top of the broken part about it is just really fucking different. Stuff's weirdly stilted and much slower even with fixed controls/physics save for select auto-run segments where touching anything kills you. There's also a KEY difference with how upgrades get unlocked via a shop instead of being hidden around overworld maps and stages.
Also NO FUCKNG CHAO GARDEN

Soleanna New City is so confusing to me. It's like someone took the worst parts of Delfino Plaza, with a dash of Mario is Missing thrown in.
More like if they tried turning delfino airstrip into delfino plaza and didn't understand what made either good.

Also no rooftop chucksters

SA 1 and 2 are pretty slow without boost pads flinging you in different directions, and I disagree that things like rail grinding and Knuckles and Rouge having "hot and cold" mechanics are surface level. It's safe to say what makes one game resemble another is pretty subjective.

"The warehouse district is off limits. Stay away."
*jumps over them*
*game judders into a loading screen*
:story:

Seriously though, it's a mystery how they couldn't get that mini-map thing to rotate. It would have helped so much.

Wrong. do a fully charged spin dash or manage to actually gain running momentum in either Sa1 or SA2, big complaint I've seen with those 2 is that they're "too fast" and you start involuntarily hugging walls after a certain speed level gets hit. You can EASILY get to those speeds without boost pads if you know what you're doing, and stages like emerald coast and pyramid cave have segments where you can build momentum from running to then be able to wall run. You can skip an entire sequence in ice cap if you spin dash at the right angle in one area due to how fast the physics are at times in SA1.

The only meaningful gameplay difference is Sonic and Shadow's gameplay in 2006 compared to the adventure games.

Wow, nothing about this clip looks fun, why is this game so popular, again?
