You know I just had a thought about this story. My 15 year old car with a fairly simple electronic system tells me when its time for an oil change. And I am pretty sure that just goes off of milage. So how the fuck does his fancy ass beamer not have that?

It's based on oil pressure, not time. I've also done oil changes on cars that had the oil coming out in chunks because the owners waited 10000 miles on recommended 3000 mile oil change. He could have just ignored the light.
