Assuming Sam actually has this horrible disease, and I certainly hope not, she'll milk it for a bit about how their brave polycule with three (i think it's her sam and hannah) disabled transfolx is facing normie persecution. After that bluesky affirmation calms down, she'lll mindfuck Sam into breaking up with her and frame it that she's the victim of all of this and has to smoke even more weed all day and ignore her malformed head child practice even more self-care.

It might be like other trinucleotide repeat conditions (e.g. Huntingtons) that have an earlier onset in the next generation.

Poor bastard. Becky may not actually be the worst thing that ever happens to him.

That's totally possible - I didn't see it noted anywhere in the brief reading I did about SCA, but that doesn't mean it's not a thing. These diseases are so rare and understudied it's entirely possible.

If SAD is freaking out I wouldn't begrudge that, especially considering that his Mom is apparently imminently dying from this thing he might also have. But it doesn't do any good for Becky to feed into all his worst nightmares. Anyone who has been a caregiver knows that attitude is a huge part of combatting illness, and no one needs Becky around saying "omg I bet you HAVE had tremors since you were 17, that's totally related, omg!" All the symptoms of SCA are so vague and common that it feels like the correct call would be to say "hey bud, maybe it's true. Maybe you've been shaking since young adulthood. But maybe it's hard to think straight right now and easy to jump to conclusions. Let's wait until we get test results before we grieve this."

But yeah, that wouldn't get the asspats and attention she wants.
