CONSTRUCTION works at a proposed £2.5m Islamic centre in Furness have experienced delays because some suppliers ‘refused to deal’ with the site following GB News coverage – a representative from the organisation has claimed.

A representative for South Lakes Islamic Centre has alleged there has been delays in the delivery of material to the site off Ulverston Road in Dalton due to negative coverage on the TV channel.
In a YouTube video, a representative from the organisation said work to pour concrete into the foundations has been ‘delayed’ and that "local suppliers have refused to deal with us".

"The concrete, which was supposed to come this week, has been delayed because of the GB News coverage," he said.

The spokesman added some quarries have also ‘declined’ to give stones to the centre.

“We have managed to find suppliers; we’ve just been delayed for a few days so that’s not a big one," he added.

“It’s just the challenges we face; it’s a difficult area to build, but we are progressing very quickly."

Now, that's just the constituency. Dalton where it is being built is a small town there with a population of 7,554 with a Muslim population of 11 [2]. This equates to about £227,272.72 spent per person.

Which, your cited article does the stereotypical "appeal to the doctors and our NHS" which is traditional now in the Britain's affairs:

I have such low expectations for our legislature and judiciary that I significantly doubt whether the jurisdictional issue came up at any point during the formation of this law. Ie, I don't think they're intentionally overreaching (Trying to force US citizens to censor their US servers and applications in line with the British government), I just don't think ANY of them could foresee a case where an American website didnt fold to their requests.

I’m seeing this more and more at work. Current big client has ‘consultants’ in (big four type of thing) on the portfolio and is listening to them over us. They’re all idiots with egos, and today I’ve spent three hours patiently explaining why the plan the consultants have put forward is not only misguided but wrong to the point it’ll cost the client tens of millions and maybe delay them to the point they lose first-to-market which would be billions down the loo on lost revenue.
These people charge vast fees, and poke their noses into everything, and it’s been a really interesting experience working with them because they’re exactly as you describe - unable to reason a few steps ahead and mentally model out ‘what ifs.’
There has been a lot of me in my kindest, nicest, ego preserving voice coddling them along so as to not cause a scene while simultaneously making the client reasoned what a disaster it would be and a lot of petulant silences and ‘well we didn’t think of that’ ‘oh’ ‘uuuurgh well is that the case..?’

Big consultancies have always been like this.
