Has he ever actually stated what his profession is, or is content creation his whole bag?
I don't remember seeing any real jobs listed in the OP, only that he alluded to whatever vocation he majored in ultimately being useless, but that doesn't really narrow it down since 90% of higher education is for-profit bullshit with no practical application.
There's some circumstantial evidence that he grew up in Southern California to left-leaning parents.
Don't know of the topography of SoCal, but he's obsessed with mountains, nature, hiking and mountainbiking.
In this Nov 2nd, 2023 clip with Macken Murphy at 2:15, hoe_math admits to having left-leaning parents (and being White).
In this clip HM gives a vague outline of his life timeline.
- Not successful in life with career, money or women until well after college
- not mentioned in clip, but spent 20s working poor, doing gig work, mooching off women
- Finally had a purpose in life wrt occupation in his mid 30s (presumably in NYC but unconfirmed)
- career was "destroyed by COVID"
- not mentioned here, but he subsequently rotted in a studio apartment for 2 years during COVID
- "moved across the country" to a basement apartment "20 mins from where I grew up" (presumably to Southern California based on a screenshot earlier in the thread complaining about rent. I've also seen conjecture online that he moved into his mom's rental property, but unconfirmed)
"If I didn't get popular with hoe_math, I'd be working at Chili's or something"
"COVID destroyed my life. I moved across the country to a basement apartment 20 mins from where I grew up."
- Presumably leaving NYC and his lost COVID job/studio apartment to move cross-country to live closer to his parents in SoCal
"Insane how competitive the housing market is in SoCal - I was paying 1100 a month in the middle of nowhere"
He refuses to name his alma mater on his streams.
He has two Psychology degrees, including a Graduate degree in Developmental Psychology
From the OP
I spent 4 years in college, 6 years living in my hometown, then 10 years in big blue cities
For 12 years after college I never had more than $5000 at a time
Presumably his working poor gig days stretch from completing his Graduate Psych degree to finally securing his pre-COVID NYC dream job that was eventually ruined, the nature of the job remains unknown.
In this Dec 30th, 2023 clip, he claims he honed his lifecoaching prowess by working thousands upon thousands of Uber rides as the driver with the empathetic ear and the heart of gold
He couldn't find steady employment for decades because he was a white male
"I'm not very hireable. I haven't had a lot of jobs. Most YouTubers haven't"
He is really resentful the first successful job he ever had (in NYC?) was killed by COVID. He spent 2 years in his studio apartment pouting about it.
It seems as though that in fall 2023 when he first achieved some Tiktok success, he started an online lifecoaching service. He sometimes talks about his client's anonymous predicaments in his content.
It seems like his lifecoaching practise didn't last long and shutdown around the end of Dec '23 when his YT really took off.
TL; DR/DW
- Doesn't seem like he ever secured work in his Psychology field, he is resentful of DEI
- He openly admits to being working poor with gig work from his early 20s to age 39. He specifically refers to driving for Uber a lot
- He admits to relying on financial assistance from the plethora of fly-by-night women he dated short-term over the years
- He finally secured a real-life job in a blue city (likely NYC) around 2019, but it was killed by COVID. He pouted for 2 years in his studio apartment afterwards
- He eventually moved back home to presumably Southern California, near his parents, unemployed
- He finally went viral on TikTok in the second half of 2023, finally giving him a source of income
- Other than a brief sojourn as a personal online lifecoach that was quickly abandoned when his YT later took off, he has no other regular employment presently
- As per the OP, he does a few paid AI self-assessment/self-improvement apps that he made with a few Leafs techbros as a sidehustle
