It's a deliberate effort on their part to conflate intersex with "trans" by lying about being intersex. They need "trans" and all that comes with it (violating boundaries and societal upheaval), they need it to be seen as a medical condition. They'll continue inflating the numbers of intersex as they've been, all the while simultaneously claiming intersex instead of "trans."
The part which gets me about the troon religion is that there is no payoff - most religions promise a reward to true believers in one or both of this life and the afterlife. The only 'reward' for believing in troonery is support from other believers and I'm just fine without that.

if you're a narc or a pervert, you have tons to gain from the troon religion. It offers attention, gratification of your fucked up fetishes, access to women without worrying about normal social conventions/separate spaces and an excuse to abuse complete strangers. Trooning out gives you the soft power of being an oppressed minority too. It's a narcissist's promised land in the here and now.

Rationally speaking, there is little to gain from supporting a group of violent, narcissistic perverts apart from that ego boost. I think that the support is either born from ignorance of troons or there are other factors at play. The LGBT movement is treated as a monolithic entity and going against any vested group's interests is seen as a betrayal of the movement as a whole. Troons exploit that and use social coercion to get what they want. If you're a lesbian and your entire support network is from the LGBT community, a troon can cut you off from that if you upset them.
