Dead by Daylight and other Asymmetric Slasher Games - Discuss the games and the autistic/entitled communities around them

They need to stop catering to only the survivor side of casual players. The game should be a lot more casual in general. As well, they keep trying to "balance" this mess, but it will never work because they don't want to make the game truly competitive or casual. The game is in this weird limbo of no direction, and it's been like that for years. They do nothing to help casual killer players and the bare minimum, to help casual survivor players, it's to the point where I'm confused why casuals play at all.
Even when it would be super easy and obvious to help more casual killers, devs choose not to for whatever reason.

In few days, assuming little changes from the PTB, survivors are going to be able to DC for free instantly the moment all remaining ones are hooked/downed/carried. Literally instantly. No more finished games for killers or final moris because "you are not entitled to waste their time" or "game is already over, why do you care?". It's the official "go next".

It would be only fair to extend this courtesy to the other side, right? Seemingly every single time as killer if you don't 3-4k you are made to wait out the full timer or get BM'd making the role miserable. Many killer players suggested publicly to let you surrender during EGC and all responses were:
- "get over it! Stop being so fragile! They're just pressing a key",
- "just force them out, you get extra bp!" (like 500 lmao),
- "but muh slugging?? what about slugging?? exactly!!!" (even though this imaginary bleeding out for 4 mins is covered already),
- "you want to give up??? you're so bad!",
- "just tab out!",
- "why do you want to deny us our win???".
The only real argument I heard were EGC challenges, but killer bots are in the code already. As seen in 2v8.

So game is 100% over for you. EGC is on, you manually open the gate to start the timer. But you NEED to endure the BM. There is no gameplay purpose to it, it's just being a cunt for the sake of it. But you just NEED to be taunted for the survivors' entertainment.

And don't get me started on map offerings nerf which completely kills some fun killer builds, but only slightly hinders the cycle of Eerie, Autohaven, Badham, The Game.

I don't think devs consider killer players at all. It's all about staying within the acceptable bullshit area.

EDIT: Forgot to mention this, but another reason for me mainly playing Killer is the Bloodpoints, even if I goof around then usually I still get a good amount, but as Survivor it feels much harder to get BP, and as I want to focus on Leveling characters, there's not as much incentive to play as Survivor imo.
Everyone who has played this long enough has reached this point of writing a blog post of everything wrong with the game and especially the community. I've long abandoned any hope that one day this game will be fixed or a sequel will magically improve upon all of the wrongs that have been done but now I wonder something else: can an asym horror game even work? Even if you get competent non-woke devs that aren't Quebec Niggers, how do you make this genre work beyond just grabbing a license and making a game around that license?

If I were an insane millionaire I would finance a game to compete and set it up like the WCW/WWF Monday Night Ratings War.

Don't forget a yearly e-sport tournament with cash rewards, champion skins, actual character background that isn't AU tomes.

Weekly updates (bugfixes) ACTUAL WIN CONDITIONS

Normal employees and none of those fuckass shitters BHVR employs

I would honestly go back to the Boomer Shooter days before Battle Passes and COD where there's no perks or add-ons or skill trees. Character classes and that's it. Like Quake 3 or CS.

So this is a little off topic, but I'm interested. I remember seeing much earlier in this Thread somebody mentioned that Null has played Dead by Daylight, and even has some videos? Does anybody have a Link? I've tried looking, but can't find it. I used several Search Engines, and put "Null Dead by Daylight", or "Joshua Moon Dead by Daylight". However nothing comes up except unrelated things, or horrendous Reddit Posts, or things like that. I'm going to keep looking, but thanks if anybody has a Link to the Footage!

At this point I don't believe DBD will get better either, but I still like to rant about it and shit on the niggercattle that is the playerbase and the devs. There's so much moralizing, gaslighting, double standards, hypocrisy, ignorance and general retardation it only feels right to point it out.

I could see a well made asymmetrical game being made and maintained 15 years ago, but not today. Everyone became so retarded in the past decade. A lot of devs are barely qualified or are outright diversity hires who just drag around stuff in Unreal's blueprint system. Audience is full of spoiled, emotional faggots who can't see past their nose and just want "feel good" slop. And everything is made for maximum profit on top of it. Asymmetrical genre is just too niche and complex to be bothered with.

Though there's Natural Selection 2. It's a marines vs aliens asymmetrical horror shooter. It's hard to get into and not very populated but I remember it being fun and full of older people so you won't find a "Wesker's Toy" or a "Femboy Lover (she/her)". You might like it.

AU lore is literally lazy writing. it allows you to not have to keep the lore consistent. (source: lazy writer)
This has been pretty annoying as the story of the characters, and the lore in general is important to me. When the Tome stuff was introduced I was excited to get more background on the characters. Then I noticed that it also contradicts the characters main bios, so all I can assume is that the extra story you get in the Tomes is alternate universe versions of the character's stories like the different costumes.
Null did a dbd stream a few years ago that has been lost to time unless he has a recording or someone downloaded it. I want to find it as well, since I watched it live and want to see it again.
Thanks for clarifying! I was about to go through all the Pages of the Thread looking for it, as I feel I saw it mentioned at least twice.

I think the genie is out of the bottle in regards to things like battle passes, micro transactions, daily missions and that kind of thing, I'm not sure a modern multiplayer game would be able to survive without those incentive, one positive about them at least is it also requires the game developers to continually make new content for the game although I do miss the days you'd get a heavily polished stand alone game which would maybe get an expansion a year or so later if it was popular enough. (Also looking back at older games it seems miraculous by today's standards that any company could ship out a game and it'd be the final product where they wouldn't be able to have day one patches or anything like that).

I guess another big cultural difference is in the past the communities were always making cool new maps, mods, skins and that kind of thing which the developers even sometimes helped promote (These days they'd be either taking them down or writing user agreements where they can take ownership of them) and also if I remember right it was standard for games to allow peer to peer hosting so players could host games with the popular new maps and whatever else that wouldn't be on the official servers.

Anyway I actually quite like the perk system in Dead by Daylight, I don't like how grindy it is for new players and I'm sure it could be done better balance-wise but I do like being able to try out different builds.

Dev stream live reaction

From PTB to Live nothing has changed about the surrender system except one thing. Instead of "surrendering", you are now "withdrawing" from the match to protect the feelings of quitters LMAO. It's a very dystopian newspeak. The audacity of them to do this is unbelievable.

With that colored hair Shaniqua on the team how can you expect your game not to be crippingly bug ridden and infested with woke shit?
It's Houndmaster

I think it's worth experimenting in making a slasher game with open mod tools. Because, theoretically, you could add any killer you want. It might be a PC only experience because of that.

On paper, Perks are fine. Like how COD handles it is often fine. The problem is that this is an asym and not all players have access to the same tools. Also, I think if you're going to make a game to compete with DbD you have to address the problem with grinding and if you can offer an experience that doesn't require grinding that might give you an edge.

So they release a new killer which constantly applies deep wound effect, they also buff Legion which does the same. What's the result? 9 out of 10 people are running Made For This consistently getting haste and are near uncatchable. I tried the perk myself and it really makes a big difference. Watched couple streamers and they struggled to keep up with survivors who stacked MfT, haste boon, Hope etc. Imagine playing the new killer right now against all of this. I'm just glad the new killer is completely uninteresting to me.

I would say this was intentionally ignored as it helps survivors, but then why are they sabotaging their own paid-only killer release? This makes no sense to me. Anyway it's all such a trash fire it's funny.

To be fair it will probably be just for a couple of weeks after the killer goes live, after that MFT will return to being a relatively niche perk.

Still, it's pathetic how shit like hope + mft + blood pact is still a thing in the game after all this fucking time, yeah it's niche and all but easily abusable by SFW as with most other things.

The new killer must be pretty popular since there's really long queue times today, wouldn't be surprised if he gets nerfed since a lot of survivor mains seem to really not like him.

He's kind of a weird combination of Wesker and Blight mobility-wise as well as Legion due to his deep wound causing attack, although it's ranged and you can for example stand on the ground level of the Dead Dawg Saloon and use his power to cause a deep wound on a survivor who is working on the first floor generator, also the attack happens slightly after so it sometimes looks like you're hitting them through terrain or a solid wall.

Although I'm not sure if he's actually THAT strong though since if survivors drop pallets early and aren't too bad at looping there's not really that much he can do after he gets his initial hit as he just becomes an M1 killer.

Also there is absolutely no reason to have the killer constantly scream in the lobby/waiting screen, I am half convinced they'll change it but only once enough people have bought the non screaming legendary cosmetic.

And talking about cosmetics BHVR seems to have messed up and at least temporarily have given players who bought the killer extra skins (Touka’s Struggle - (Yui Kimura's cosmetic with the rabbit mask) and The Ghoul Within (The killer in casual clothes without his mask)).

@BrunoMattei I agree with your points there, I really have no idea why they'd give new players worse version of perks (Tier 1), or even more egregious - paywall the good perks behind licenced killers which isn't officially what happens but sure seems to be the case most of the time, particularly when it comes to generator slowdown perks.

The blood web is also dumb since whoever plays the game the most gets access to the best items and add-ons which are just straight up better with no downsides whatsoever and also contains absolute garbage as filler like Regents and items like Broken Key.
