Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

Ah. I see a bunch of people that are never satisfied.

Must be the Nintendo thread.

The last one was pretty good, iirc. And usually there's at least one game I'm interested in too, but I really don't think there was one this time, at least not a new announcement. It was pretty abysmal...

Now imagine not giving a shit about RH nor Patapon either.

I'm thinking the next one is going to be a real heavy hitting Direct, or at least it better be for Nintendo's sake.
Even if you don't care for rhythm games, Patapon and Everybody's Golf (and Freedom Wars, which wasn't in the direct) mean that its open season for PSP first party games coming to Switch/Switch 2 through B-N. That should be exciting.

Yeah, there's definitely potential there.

Am I the only one happy that Uncharted Waters 2 New Horizons just got added to the Switch SNES Online? It's one of those games that you can't really buy an og SNES copy since it's around $1000 last I checked, I never thought I'd ever see it on the Switch SNES Online so it was a nice surprise. I played the game on an emulator years ago and it's amazing. It's not for everyone but if you're into open seas RPG games this is the masterpiece of the genre (the only other games I know of in this genre are Sid Meier's Pirates and the first Uncharted Waters). I've been playing it on the switch now and it's been very comfy, the SNES port of the game has the best music and sound.

I'd laugh my ass off if it turns out that's now Nintendo has been selecting games to port to their official emulator -- just picking whichever games are getting scalped the hardest just to fuck the scalpers over.

I mean, lets be real, nobody is letting a 1000 price tag stand between themselves and playing the game. Emulators exist and if you will only settle for original hardware then NSO definitely isn't going to do it for you.

The Nintendo Today app is shit so far. Why are the videos terrible quality regardless of my connection? Why can’t I see any series-specific events from previous days? Why does the front page show me Xenoblade stuff when I don’t have Xenoblade in my Favorite Series list? The calendar mentions a Smash Ultimate “Tribute to Melee” and an F-Zero 99 “Machine Shuffle Mini Prix”, but what are those? I would assume they’re in-game events, but there are no details. Some sites say the app shared a new photo of the Switch 2, but where is that photo? All I see is the “presentation in 2 days” video that uses the same graphic from every other day. Why is the entire thing tied to a mobile app in the first place?

This thing is terrible.

I saw that smash thing too and I was also confused, it's just one of the ingame smash tournaments nobody plays so I guess the app has ingame events listed too. I wish it would provide short descriptions if you tapped them in the app because so far it seems like things just kinda pop up without explanation.

Saw today's direct and is it odd the thing I most look forward to is that Gradius Collection which will include an all-new game?
Its hard to be hyped when Metroid just didn't look great and you just don't give a fuck about Miitopia.

At least there's a new RH and Patapon on Switch.
How can one remain un-hyped, when based M2 is developing a new zero-budget Salamander game and attaching it to a collection of easily-piratable roms that are already on Switch anyway? Organic horror shmup bros, we could hardly be any more back.

I'm only like semi-ironic here

it caters to children in it's products,
Well, I've recently found out that Brothership openly foreshadows the first boss fights with:

  • The townspeople giving various reminders on where the brute is
  • An forced cutscene reminding you to buy the mediocre gear that you've likely brought at this point.
  • And small text string on the map to remind you where to go (which has always been an part of the series)
Like, just how retarded are people getting, nowadays? It's bad enough that Pokemon has occasionally gotten worse with the amount of handholding that goes on

Do you think the Switch 2 games will cost 70$ (other companies have already forced that as "standard") or 60$ (current price in main games, except for Tears of the kingdom)?
I can see both scenarios happenings

A $70 price point will make it supremely easy for me to put off buying a Switch 2 for a good long time, along with avoiding new releases absent sales (or used copies). Have fun with that one, Nintendo!

$70 for the big ones $60 for the small ones
To clarify some, big ones entails games that, if Nintendo still had a handheld and a console seperately, would be on the console, while small ones would be on the handheld.

Neither price will be very nice.

Absolutely. To be frank, it would be weird if they didn't.

So, any predictions before tomorrow? Personally, I am thinking the Direct will be pretty Mario heavy as I am going to assume we get a new 3D Mario in addition to Mario Kart. Past those two, the only heavy hitter I fully see coming is Splatoon 4, simply because it is an online heavy game and Nintendo would want to launch it near the start of a system when users would be high.

After those, I am feeling like some combination of Kirby, Fire Emblem or the elusive Donkey Kong may hit the system. FE and Kirby are usually bi/tri-yearly, so we are coming up to when they would launch a new one. Donkey Kong has been rumored forever and with the new park and the relaunch of Returns, I feel like something has to happen eventually.

Would not expect to see Animal Crossing, Smash, or Zelda (unless remake/remaster). These all feel further out and a good way to give the system some longevity.

Would also guess there will be a new IP, but obviously I cannot predict what the new IP will be. It will definitely be something that takes advantage of the new Joycons though.
